To ask for 10th Birthday present ideas for dsd

Tashtash2 · 12/10/2019 18:19

As above really,
Dsd will be 10 next week and we still have no idea what to buy herConfused.

What I really don't want to do is buy a load of plastic junk that really never gets used. She does have a bedroom here (shared with older sister) with accessories of her choice, teddy's, blankets, cushions etc, she has an iPod touch here, she has toys, she has more clothes, pjs, shoes etc than she will ever use, she has outdoor stuff, bike, scooter etc.
I have a dd who's 11 but with her living with us she's much easier to buy for with useable stuff etc.
Please help. What do your kids use a lot?

Honestly I think I’d get her vouchers for her favourite shop and maybe something small so she has something to unwrap, then she can choose exactly what she wants

macpumpkin1 · 12/10/2019 18:23

Settlers of Catan.

Leeds2 · 12/10/2019 18:27

Trampoline.
Pogo stick.
Craft/science kits that she can do when she is with you.
Art stuff.
Zookeeper for a day experience, which she gets to do whilst the rest of the family visit the zoo.

My dd always wanted books, so if she's a reader then a Waterstones voucher is ideal.

Kelsoooo · 12/10/2019 18:32

We got our 10yr old;

HP necklace and earrings
A book
Scentos
Sharpies
Handbag
Purse

In the purse was an "OSPER" bank card we had loaded with cash, then we took her shopping.

Now we just top it up with spends. Great for budgeting and feeling more grownup

My dd is 10 soon. I was a bit stuck too ! I got her some bits ( cheap sports watch, putty, books, lego etc ) and a necklace with her name engraved on it with her birthstone as a special 10 yr old present.

Sorry it's taken so long to come back, broken phone Angry
Thank you so much for all the ideas. We have most things that have been suggested (having 4 kids between us = lots of bday and Christmas presents over the years). We've bought some art/craft stuff for her, a new (fully stocked with unicorn stuff) pencil case for school, some sweets, a unicorn glass, some hairbands she was eyeing up. Still could do with something else though as she been a bit short changed cost wise in comparison with the others Confused
Apologies for the rambling and thanks again.

Echo dot?

Tashtash2 · 17/10/2019 22:17

Thank you. I've just Googled echo dot Blush not sure I've ever seen one. What does it do? What do you need for it to work? Just wifi?

Just connects to Wi-Fi. Hours of fun. Play music, ask it questions etc.it also does all my nagging for me via the reminder function.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 17/10/2019 23:17

I got my dd an Alexa for Christmas. She loves it, listens to Audible books (subscription costs £7.99 a month which includes 1 free audiobook a month)
Listens to music, asks questions about school work. Its a really good present.

pikapikachu · 17/10/2019 23:21

A voucher for her favourite shop- Claire's? Superdrug?

My dd started to enjoy vouchers around that age.

Sunnydays365 · 18/10/2019 00:22

I got my niece who is 10 a dream catcher for her room ,she loved it

giggly · 18/10/2019 00:28

I got my dd10 hair straighteners for her birthday as she loves doing her hair. And slime she loves slime. I’ve also got her a kindle fire for Christmas as she loves reading but I’m trying to be clutter free and buy less books.

Whichoneofyoudidthat · 18/10/2019 03:41

That was the age my girls started to get into things like bath bombs and smelly body creams etc.. like from body shop or Lush

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 18/10/2019 07:54

Cinema tickets...concert tickets maybe ..my daughter is going to be 8 soon and is going to see the lion king at the theatre maybe something like that might be good? Or a day at a theme park as a special treat for her and a friend? We dont do so many presents here ..we have some don;t get me wrong but its all about experiences for us.The memories last longer than the gifts!!!
