person that NONE of the local cats bothers to burry their poop? There is at least 5 of them!

No it's not foxes. It's cats. I know which ones because we had number of discussions when I caught them.

I suspect their opinion of me and my (well kept!) garden is just super low and this is how they show it😂

They even shit right next to plants they supposed to hate...

Mean bastards killing my plants.

Cat moaners join light-hearted debate and for god sake, please, someone give me some tips which ACTUALLY workBlush

(Disclaimer, I love animals. Like really love. As long as they don't shit in my garden.)

I desperately wanted a cat when I was younger. My mum was happy cos she thought it would stop other cats pooing in our garden.

It did. Except our cat only pooed in our garden so kinda backfired.

Sorry, our plants pood on grow really well Wink.

Perhaps you can do what we have done for ours (no guarantee since this is a territorial issue) but we have a 'litter' tray, just four boards in a square with nice lose soil in it (out of sight). If you put some of the poo in it, you may make this their favorite spot and save your garden.

This is so annoying it happened to me for years especially in the spring and summer they stopped me growing my vegetables. I seen them all the time like the cats lived in my garden I tried everything even the citrus jelly stuff. The only thing that truly works is to get a cat of your own. I have no issues now my 2 cats keeps about 15 cats out of my garden.

Cat fence, e.g. Felisafe. Designed to keep your own cats in and safe, but equally keeps other cats out. The DIY kit is affordable, or it can be installed for you.

Pretty drastic measure but it works.

  1. Get a cat. Preferably two for companionship and you can even hire a car sitter to call in during the daytime if you have a long commute. We have approximately 20 felines in the immediate neighborhood and none of them have been seen in our garden since our Maine Coon filled out. Including unneutured toms. If you want a really psychotic guard-cat, get a Siamese that's been crossed with something bigger. My parents have two and they dominate 2 square miles of territory (quiet countryside), including the local dogs!
  2. Put any plants you really want to protect in tubs and add a surface layer of slate or gravel. Also handy for keeping off the slugs.
  3. You can fence off or use stakes for ground shrubs - again, it's about leaving as little area as possible available for them to squat comfortably in.
  4. Water pistol.
  5. Add prickly ground cover plants in, closer to the house. It won't make the problem go away, but will limit where they do their business.

I've used ground pepper, that was quite effective, I've heard that human male urine scares them off, not tried that, hubby's to shy to pee in the garden!!!

Well, when I got a kitten to be a buddy for my big 10kg Persian cross, the big one would send the kitten out as bait for the neighbouring cats. While they were approaching the kitten, the big one would sneak up behind them and attack.

So that may be an option - a bigger cat and a little kitty to be bait Grin
