Bullying or Kids Pranks

Ds is 10. He was bullied badly in his last school, very badly, so we moved him.
He has been happy in the new school for the last 18 months but recently told me his friend is sometimes mean.

Things that have happened include licking his dessert so can't eat it, putting ice cream on his chair before he sits down, general micky taking, putting a dead worm on his bag.

I am worried things are starting again for ds. He doesn't find it funny and tries to avoid playing with this friend but in doing so misses playing with his other real friends (who do stick up for him but also laugh...)

Is this just normal kids pranks? My view is skewered by the past. I want to speak to the teacher but DH says I'm overreacting. So wibu to speak to the school? Am I overreacting?

Speak to the school.
If he doesn't find it funny then it should be stopped.
Even if they aren't meaning to upset him, they are upsetting him.

Definitely speak to the school.

I'd speak to school.

A prank is when everyone laughs including the person being pranked and it's all done/taken in good fun but as soon as the prankee stops finding it funny and has made it clear they want it to stop then it crosses the line and is no longer harmless pranking.

Thanks, I will try and speak to his teacher.

It's only a whimsical prank if your son finds it funny.
He's not. And so the behaviour needs to be stopped.

I'd first encourage DS to be assertive and tell this boy that this must stop and that it's not funny. That way if it continues he's got no recourse.

Speak to the school. It's only banter if everyone s laughing.
If the person it s aimed at is upset then it's bullying.
Just told a bunch of year 7s that earlier today.
