Sorry to swear but I’ve just had about enough now. Five effing weeks of bronchitis and cough cough cough cough bloody cough. Hardly sleeping a wink. Horrendous pressure headaches after every coughing fit. Farting with every cough.
Trying to have an early night to catch up but don’t know why I’m bothering. Just had massive strop stomp through house while looking for paracetamol.
Writing this to calm down and get it off my chest - ha, chance would be a fine thing.
Rant over. Thanks for listening. 😩

I took Night Nurse at 7 pm tonight hoping it would knock me out - still wide awake 😳 ..... and coughing.
Will work my way through remedy lists!

God, I’ve only had mine for three — clearly there’s a way to go. Sad Night Nurse does knock me out at night, but leaves me incredibly groggy in the morning.

Are you sure this isn't whooping cough? There's a lot more of it about at the moment and adults don't necessarily get the whoop bit at the end of the cough.

I don't know about Singapore like pp, but the French call whooping cough the100-day cough.

I've found a salt inhaler works to ease symptoms, also possibly worth looking into whether or not you have a salt therapy center near by. Works well for the other half when he has a hideous hacking cough and at least makes it easier at night.

A month here. Evil awful thing. And people keep ‘helpfully’ thwacking me on the back which doesn’t bloody help at all. It’s bad enough I’ve got this cough, stop hitting me!

ChickenyChick · 10/10/2019 22:23

I had this bronchitis virus for a month, it’s bad one

Hot ginger tea in a flask, at night, helped a bit. And sleeping elevated on three pillows!

NightOwl27 · 11/10/2019 00:07

Solpadeine Plus! Codeine supresses the central nervous system and will take away the cough. Useful in emergency situations like giving a talk or having to sit through a presentation.

Rudyrink · 12/10/2019 20:37

Fiacia- Oh my - did I feel groggy the day after 🥴. Won’t be taking that again in a hurry, well at least not when I’m due in work in the morning.
Keep the remedies coming. Thanks all. x

@Rudy, I know, it’s like a medicine hangover. Awful.

Anina1andLea2 · 23/01/2020 12:23

Just in the middle of Whooping Cough myself - throwing up every time too. It sucks !

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 23/01/2020 12:28

I know how you feel Sad I've had mine since November. It was going in the last few weeks but the last two days it's gone nuclear again. I'm pissed off with pissing myself. Thank god for tena lady Grin I've not been to doctors yet as I've had to go to other doctors appointments for DD or a&e this week and I feel a bit cheeky asking my employer for MORE time off for another appointment. I've tried to get an evening one but my surgery gives me an evening one...at 2pm! Yeh sorry that's not evening, love! I work an hour away from home too so I need a really late one.

Tbh I did have antibiotics at Xmas for a kidney infection but shouldn't they have also sorted out my cough Confused

mbosnz · 23/01/2020 12:36

Three weeks in. Useless for anything. I'm not happy to hear whooping cough is doing the rounds, I've got absolutely no immunity to it, regardless of vaccination, and I generally get it every five years. Guess what?

I figured it was bronchitis, but is there any point going to the doctors, or are they just going to say 'rest and fluids', which of course I'm already bloody doing, and the house looks like a pit.

Sympathies to all fellow sufferers, I don't know when I last felt this crook, this is nasty.

I know this is an old-ish thread but I too had a bad cough this winter. Came down with it in October and only just got rid of it a couple weeks ago. Three visits to the GP, a trip to A&E when my breathing suffered. Blood tests, ECG and x-ray and still not sure what was wrong.
Hope you're now recovered @Rudyrink
