I didn't really know where to post. It seems wrong to post in the eating-disorder topic as that's not what this is.

Over the last few months my appetite has become huge, I snack (a lot) throughout the day & my portion sizes have become giant, sometimes double what DP will have. Yesterday (for example) I ate:
2 x bowl of granola
1 x peanut butter sandwich
1 x bagel (+ ham & cheese)
2 x biscuits
1 x plate of cauliflower & broccoli cheese
2 x muller yoghurt things
2 x bowl of beef rice with veg

I could have easily eaten more. I'm 5"4, 52kg and a size 6/8. If I do not eat much, I lose weight very easily but don't seem to gain any weight. DP reckons I am just 'greedy', but I'm starting to wonder if there's an underlying medical problem. I just don't want to waste NHS time, it sounds so ridiculous.Blush Would you go to GP?

I'd see a doctor. If you have young children it's possible your thyroid has gone wacky- it happens after pregnancy sometimes.

Wotrewelookinat · 07/10/2019 11:05

Agree with PP about not much protein, plus you also need some healthy fats....nuts, seeds, avocado, olives etc. The current thinking is that protein should be half of what you eat at each meal and will keep you fuller for longer. You also need plenty of fibre. However, I would see a GP and maybe speak to a nutritionist.

Passthecherrycoke · 07/10/2019 11:07

When you’re hungry you don’t want protein. You want snacky sweet Carby greasy foods. There is no way I wouldn’t swapped my packof biscuits for a boiled egg and some nuts- which wouldn’t have made me
Feel any more full anyway

TuckMyWin · 07/10/2019 11:07

Oh, and don't assume that just because one of the symptoms of being 'hypothyroid' is gaining weight, that you will. I am a similar size to you and was diagnosed hypothyroid after my first pregnancy (and am now managed on meds). I was at my smallest after both pregnancies- also breastfeeding, and starving hungry, whilst ostensibly 'hypothyroid'.

Teddybear45 · 07/10/2019 13:20

Exactly @TuckMyWin - my hypothyroidism is fairly severe now (suspected hashimotos) and i have pcos but I have never had a problem with being unable to lose weight.

TuckMyWin · 07/10/2019 13:26

@Teddybear45 it's funny. I know /know of (eg. wives of friends) a few people with hypothyroid. All but one of them (my Mum!) are slight and never had weight gain or difficulty losing weight.

Aprillygirl · 07/10/2019 13:42

I put on 5lbs just reading your post so all I can muster up is envy at your dream life 'dilemma' OP.

Nanny0gg · 07/10/2019 13:47

That's why I asked about symptoms. Palpitations? Heart racing? Weight loss and tiredness are two if thwm

pigsDOfly · 07/10/2019 14:06

I don't agree that that's healthy for a day's eating.

There's hardly any protein, no fruit and very few vegetables. And there's way too much fat and sugar.

You need to cut down on some of the fat and sugar, up the protein and add a lot more vegetable and some fruit.

Adding more vegetables will fill you up in a healthy way.

slipperywhensparticus · 07/10/2019 14:09

I've got graves disease your in the right window of time how are your hands do they shake or do you sweat more are your eyes ok?

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 07/10/2019 14:15

My first thought was thyroid too op. I would go and see your GP.

lemonadex · 07/10/2019 14:19

@pigsDOfly

Yes, I agree not enough fruit & protein at all! Eek. We do eat a lot of vegetables generally though I have to say, I'm a huge fan of veggies. Grin
