Anyone else sick of sickly sweet family photos, inspirational posts, ridiculous memes on Facebook/instagram/whats ap? Knowing full well the individual in questions life is nothing like they adverts. Why???

I know it's boring when people come on threads and tell the op to simply stop doing whatever it is they're beefing about, but you should just leave sm. I deactivated my FB 3 years ago and don't miss it at all. It's just pointless bollocks as you point out yourself.

Ignore and/or feel sorry for them. I know someone who’s always done the glossy lovely “my little family! #soblessed” stuff, when really her husband was abusive and her life was pretty shit for a while. Yeah it was fake but I can’t blame her for wanting a break from the grim reality really.

I don't follow people who post 'inspirational' memes. I don't really understand why you would follow people you clearly dislike. I rarely see anything that annoys me on Facebook because I'm only friends with people I actually like.

You know you can unfollow people's posts without actually unfriending them, don't you?

Other people are not obliged to curate their social media profiles in a way that suits your personal requirements. It's not like you're paying them a subscription fee.

I also find it interesting that so many people on Mumsnet assume that when people post happy family photos on Facebook it's 'not reality'. Some people are happy, you know. I don't think I could find it in myself to be pissed off about that.

If they posted miserable stuff, there'd be a Mumsnet chorus of people bitching about 'negative people on Facebook who do nothing but whine and complain'.
