I was crying as my life had gone down the pan in my opinion. The only consolation was I lost 2 stone in 4 months. I then went out for lunch and met and inspirational lady who died some 2-3 years later

Sorry for your loss Flowers

I hope you have found some positives since that time, that you don't feel as despondent and that something else or somebody else will come into your life and make it good. I wish you all the very best Flowers

Thank you Summer. If I'm being honest , although she cheered me up on this day 11yrs ago after I'd been crying - I must admit - I didn't know her THAT well .. although I'll never forget her as she did inspire me and cheered me up. I was saddened when I heard she'd died but by then I admit I hadn't seen her for more than 2 years. My life went on to change immeasurably in the spring of 2010 - it was a very magical time ❤️

I am so glad that 2010 brought some magic into your life. It is good to read that things can change Star

Charley1988 · 05/10/2019 17:35

Things CAN change - took me a very difficult 21 months of often lonely self improvement but the end result was so worth it 21 months that's all it took -from June 2008 to March 2010 not exactly overnight but actually atone period that's not hugely long either. If this can help 1 mumsnetter it wil have been worth it

The real work is in keeping it there. So it doesn't slip backwards.

The best way to avoid slipping is not hanging around near shit.

Charley1988 · 05/10/2019 17:55

I COMPLETELY agree Freshwater sadly because I did let it slip back 😥

Well I haven't got the foggiest idea what this is all about. Confused

Charley1988 · 05/10/2019 18:08

It's just self indulgent reminiscence

My life went down the pan in 2008 as well OP. I was very alone and suicidal in fact. But here I am 11 years later, living by the sea, married, nice house, dream job, lovely children. Things aren't perfect, but I have come a very long way.

Not a stealth boast. Just if someone reads this that felt like I did then (I used to cry every morning when I woke up because I wished I wouldn't wake up), I hope that kmowing how much things can turn around can help them.

On this day 2 years ago my DDad died. I’ve been very out of sorts all week which is odd as I don’t typically get into anniversaries good or bad.

Hope things get better OP.

Charley1988 · 05/10/2019 18:27

That s a very uplifting post No one. Congratulations on your improvement it is inspiring when you feel you've made real progress. Way I look at it if it helps just one person to share your experiences it's worth it x

TSSDNCOP

IM SO sorry to hear about your dad. Reminisce, have a cry, drink lots of and eventually in time enjoy and embrace life for your Dads sake - I'm a spiritual person and I'm sure he'll help you find the strength when you're ready. This would be my advice to myself in your circumstances at least - obviously I don't know you so I'm giving advice 'I the dark ' as it were.

I'm sort of similar to you though in that my dads in his 80s and has MASSIVELY deteriorated in past 18 months. So I'm trying to make the most of every minute

I was clearing out our old family home, both Mum and Dad had died.
On the last day before we left it me and my sister had a good old sing to ELO around the house, as it was a family favourite and held so many memories.

Charley1988 · 05/10/2019 18:57

That's nice Drarbarni - keep stocked up on the CDs
