To pester doctors about endometriosis?

Convinced I have it. I have irregular periods that are a really odd flow. Used to be crazy heavy before the implant then had that taken out over a year ago and now they’re like watery and coral coloured?? But incredibly painful. I have to take first 2 days of period off work as I can barely walk as my legs and back hurt so much and I just stay in bed dosed up on painkillers which do nothing.

I also find sex quite painful like it feels sharp almost?? Does this sound like endo? I’ve had scans etc like twice or three times in the last year and they find nothing. At the start of last year I had an ovarian cyst which burst and turned septic.

Also have been ttc for the last year and nothing has happened.

Any insights? :(

You're absolutely not being unreasonable. The approach some GPs have to endometriosis is a joke.

Of course pester your GP, and tell them you're worried about endometriosis. Not sure if you've heard of the charity endometriosis UK but they were very helpful in my diagnosis. They have a lot of info on their website and a helpline too if you want advice.

Just wanted to add, no scans can rule out endometriosis. The only way to rule it out is an operation called a laparoscopy. Just because your scans came back clear does not mean you do not have endometriosis. Really hope you get to the bottom of your struggles x

I was going to say exactly what sugar88 said - I didn't get a diagnosis until I had a laparoscopy as a part of private fertility treatment. Keep advocating for yourself!

I was told for years I had fybroids causing my constant bleeding and pain, then when I was 49 I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis, my gp said as I was nearly 50 and nearing menopause age he thinks I should just leave it or he could refer me to a gynaecologist IF I really wanted, long story short gynaecologist didn’t think I’d ever had fybroids prob had Adenomyosis for years and did me a full hysterectomy the next month because as he said why should I suffer, I’m so glad I saw him

Thank you guys! And can I ask - does endo have anything that helps that I could get myself in the meantime? And could that be the cause of why ttc isn’t working yet?
