Actually I don't really care, but I keep noticing these awful few letters on the end of 'alot' of posts and it's annoying me.

Thanks for reading hun lol

@T1gerEye I couldn't agree more.

ilovesooty · 04/10/2019 20:45

Perhaps @RancidOldHag is using assistive technology.

dinomonkey · 04/10/2019 20:46

@ilovesooty I imagine they are too

Oh. This is one of my biggest pet peeves!!!!!

I won a photo competition. The woman who rang to make the appointment kept calling me ‘hun’. ‘That date good for you hun?’ Is 3pm ok hun? ‘Want me to wipe your arse hun?’

Her ‘husband’ asked us for feedback and I stated that I thought it was highly unprofessional for her to be calling clients ‘hun’. He went bright red. Looked very pissed off.

We had to cancel the app. When she rang back she still called me ‘hun’. So he obviously didn’t tell her. Photo was crap too. Really not worth the hassle.

dinomonkey · 04/10/2019 20:49

So unprofessional.

Keep the aspidistra flying....

LisaRoundTheMulberryBush · 04/10/2019 20:50

Your thread, your rulz hun.

Came here to say this ⬆️⬆️ lol xx

HerondaleDucks · 04/10/2019 20:52

My DH's ex calls me hun all the time and it drives me bonkers.

However on MN, I think LOL, xx, hun etc are ticks of habit.

I still catch myself writing lol in texts as a force of habit from when I was a teenager on msn. Forgive me if I slip!

dinomonkey · 04/10/2019 20:53

I wonder if people notice me physically recoiling when they call me hun

AlexaAmbidextra · 04/10/2019 20:55

We have posters who useistive technology, who are dyslexic or whondo not have English as a flint language. It is much easier for those wupith barriers when standard English is used. The who can, should use it

Well that lot certainly took some understanding. 😂

WorraLiberty · 04/10/2019 20:59

We don't need xx, or lol, or ur, or u. And this is because we are grown ups who can hopefully construct sentences as such. This is not facebook or whatsapp. And yes, I do silently judge all those people who use such language.

And yet most of us don't construct sentences without using such nonsense as 'DD, DS, DB, DP, DH, DW, MIL, FIL, BIL, SIL, DF, DM' and even 'D' fucking dog Grin Grin

IAmTerrible · 04/10/2019 21:01

I got "huni xxx" the other day from a virtual stranger 😝

aliensprig · 04/10/2019 21:01

@Joerev you sound lovely Hmm that poor woman

MerryBerryCheesecake · 04/10/2019 21:02

Don't forget the ! and !! and !!! and !!!!!!!!!!! splattered all over the place like fucking measles of self importance.

It just seems so arrogant (with added rank idiocy sometimes).

It's like the written version of any arrogant smart arse noise one cares to imagine.

Anybody doing it pretty much loses me at the first use of !

I am aware I may have an irrational dislike of !

Hun xx makes me nearly as twitchy. lol doesn't bother me too much, used in moderation.

SilverySurfer · 04/10/2019 21:05

I don't use it much but quite like lol and shall continue to use it when the mood takes me.

However, hun and xx can fuck right off.

LordNibbler · 04/10/2019 21:07

No we don't, but those are the acronyms mumsnet give us to use.
One other thing I would say is, whilst I hate the use of lol and xx, I would never be rude enough to go onto a thread and pull someone up about it. I may hate bad grammar, but bad manners are even worse. I do cringe when I see someone write could of instead of could've or could have and some rude person comes along and pulls them up about it. There is no reason to be mean to someone in that manner.

onlyoneoftheregimentinstep · 04/10/2019 21:11

Snobbery rules.

Aprillygirl · 04/10/2019 21:12

This is far more idiotic (even though I do find myself writing these dumb abbreviations now) than a lol or a kiss at the end of a sentence. How can you have a problem with the odd 'ur' if you can't ever be arsed to write 'son?' Hmm

gamerchick · 04/10/2019 21:15

Fuxache man give it a rest. Yes we have had an influx of netmums bods who were cast adrift. Yes it's annoying but so is the use of D in front of everything. I don't give a shit if it is as old as the internet.

People get on the beam eventually.... And use D in front of everything Envy

WorraLiberty · 04/10/2019 21:15

Yes I agree LordNibbler

I absolutely hate the twats who pull people up on their grammar, spelling and posting 'lol' or 'xx' etc.

It does make me want to scream internally but if I couldn't scroll past without pulling a stranger up about their choice of words, I'd recognise that the internet is not for me and give it a miss.

tequilasunrises · 04/10/2019 21:24

This is the billionth thread along such lines in the past few weeks. Why do people give such a shite, you don’t have to engage with those posters.

It makes me want to start using all these hatred utterances like hun and lol and xx just to know that some MNetter’s heads are boiling over with rage about it. Lol.

WorraLiberty · 04/10/2019 21:33

It's funny you should say that because I laugh every time I see it, not at the person posting it, but at the way it makes some MNetters froth and rage Grin Grin

I know, it's the little things Blush

HeadLikeAFuckinOrange · 04/10/2019 21:38

Me "n" Hubs both think u need to chill out, you & the famalam need to go on holibobs...relax & live your best life hun xx

Leftielefterson · 04/10/2019 21:40

I just don’t understand why the usage of the term ‘lol’ would be bothersome. I dislike ‘hun’ because it’s a term of endearment and people on here don’t know me well enough to use the term but I don’t understand the dislike of lol when so many people on here use acronyms iyswim. Why is

LaLoba · 04/10/2019 22:14

I don’t do it, but your apparent belief that you get to dictate makes me want to.

Lol, hun! Xxx

Or in traditional MN speak, lighthearted! Unmumsnetty hugs!
