I was visiting Edinburgh over the summer and did the usual tourist visits including Edinburgh Castle. After leaving the castle we stopped at a number of shops along the Royal Mile. In one of them I saw a beautiful set of jewelry but didn't have enough money on me to buy it. I planned to go back the next day but didn't get a chance. I don't know the name of the shop but it was on the right hand side of the street as u leave the castle. I think near the Camera Obscura place. I don't think it was just a jewelry shop, more a general gift shop but nicer than the usual tat that was sold elsewhere. I'm hoping that there may be some local mums who may know where I was? If I knew the name of the place I might be able to find it online, Google has been no help. Fingers crossed here that someone knows where I'm on about. Thanks in advance!

Look up the royal mile on street view on maps. It'll show you the shops if the camera car got close enough

Pumperthepumper · 04/10/2019 17:41

Sheila Fleet? Her jewellery is absolutely everywhere.

MuchBetterNow · 04/10/2019 17:46

Her shop is in Stockbridge, not Royal Mile, unless it's a concession?

museumum · 04/10/2019 17:46

As you leave the castle camera obscura is on the left.
Scotch whisky experience in the right side.
Which do you mean?

Jody21 · 04/10/2019 18:14

Thanks everyone for the replies. It was definitely on the right hand side of the street as u leave the castle. We crossed over after leaving Camera Obscura and stopped at several shops on the right side of the street. I just can't remember how far down this shop was but it was before the Museum of Childhood as that's where I was next. From what I can remember the shop seemed to stock better quality items than most of its neighbors. Maybe I just need an excuse to go back again! Such a beautiful city.

Sorry it’s a long way from camera Obscura to museum of childhood. Maybe 100 shop fronts. You’ll just have to come back Grin

MutedUser · 06/10/2019 13:44

Yes every single Mum in Scotland has been to Edinburgh . Has every single Mum in England been to Birmingham ?

TheMustressMhor · 06/10/2019 13:50

Yes every single Mum in Scotland has been to Edinburgh . Has every single Mum in England been to Birmingham?

That's a bit mean.

TooManyPaws · 06/10/2019 13:54

www.royal-mile.com/highstreet_plan.html

This may help, OP. It lists all the shops and their locations; together with Google Maps, you should be able to narrow it down.

MovinOnUp · 06/10/2019 14:07

@MutedUser Who pissed on your chips today?

OP if you can wait til December, I can have a look for you? :)

AgentProvocateur · 06/10/2019 14:09

Actually, I bet the vast majority of Scottish mums have been to Edinburgh, as part of a school trip, if nothing else.

MutedUser · 06/10/2019 14:12

@agentprovacarptuer really ? We never went on any trip to Edinburgh my kids haven’t been to any trip to Edinburgh with the school either .

Windyone · 06/10/2019 14:14

I’ll look next time I’m going that way!

TheMustressMhor · 06/10/2019 14:16

Now I come to think about it, when I lived in England I did visit Birmingham.

MutedUser · 06/10/2019 14:17

Yes yes I’m totally mean .What I meant to say was of course OP ALL Scottish Mums are local to Edinburgh. Hundreds of thousands of us don’t live over 5 hour drive away at all. Scotland is just a little small town really can’t think why it’s actually a Country.

cookielove · 06/10/2019 14:19

I have been to Birmingham too!!

Several times! But only to visit Cadbury's world Grin

Morgan12 · 06/10/2019 14:19

😂😂😂😂😂 calm doon hen

Veterinari · 06/10/2019 14:20

I have not reproduced so i’m not sure if i’m qualified to answer... Hmm

I’d suggest it might be Palenque. They have some beautiful pieces

Windyone · 06/10/2019 14:22

I’ve had a quick look on google earth. The shop fronts are quite clear. Is it worth having a look on that.
@MutedUser if you read the OP it references “local mums”. Go and make trouble elsewhere!

Veterinari · 06/10/2019 14:23

www.palenque.co.uk/

If a recommendation from a childfree human is of any value..

Veterinari · 06/10/2019 14:24

Although i’m Not Scottish with so fail on both counts I guess

MovinOnUp · 06/10/2019 14:24

@MutedUser Yes I think we all got the gist of what you were getting at, No need for further explanation.
But why choose to be unkind?

It's actually a pretty fair assumption that most Scottish folk will have visited their Nations capital even if you haven't.

Groovee · 06/10/2019 14:26

I would Google Earth to have a look. There are often a few stalls too with Jewellery at certain times of the year.

Veterinari · 06/10/2019 14:27

I think @MutedUser is pretty reasonable - why do you need to be either Scottish or successful at reproduction to know the location of a jewellery shop? Why not just ask for people familiar with Edinburgh? Confused

21seconds · 06/10/2019 14:32

I work near the royal mile and am there daily.. so right hand side of the mile walking down .. crossing the road from camera obscure is Scottish whiskey society and then the Festival hub, past the roundabout are two high end accessories shops with strathberry etc, then a whiskey shop, then Patrick Hesse’s centre then the bank and George Iv bridge. Crossing over is french institute, st Giles, then fringe shop and some cafes no gift or jewellery in this block. Crossing past north bridge is your most likely section that your shop will be in. Several gift shops and there is a jewellery shop. www.palenque.co.uk/ Is this it? Other than that I can’t think of anywhere apart from the curio shop but it is up by camera obscure but on left hand side
