If you won the £169 million jackpot tonight, would you go public or keep it private amongst your immediate family?
I’d like to think I wouldn’t go public but it’s such a huge amount of money that someone is bound to find out and blab.

As I understand it, the reason some people go public is because Camelot (or whoever it is) offer pretty decent incentives such as sound legal/financial advice and the like, in exchange for the publicity. Some people may feel that it's so overwhelming they would want to take that in exchange for the publicity.

Every big winner gets help and advice from Camelot, regardless if they go public or not. They obviously don't help you with publicity if you don't go public. But all the financial advice and after care is there and available if you need or want it. They have to provide it in order to be allowed to operate.

Alot of people will probably go public because they didn't keep their trap shut after they won, so now their whole town knows they won, which Camelot will play on, and probably say "someone will just sell your details to the sun for £300 so you may as well go public".

If I ever won, besides partner nobody else would know.
We'd tell people we'd won £250K on a scratchcard. I think that would be enough to bring out the greeneyed monster in so called friends and family.
