To think that the size 0 trend is coming back?

For a few years it seemed like young women were starting to go for a look which was very slim but with curvy hips. And I think the extremely thin look is coming back in.

Over 64% of UK adults are overweight or obese, so I'm not sure how this could be a trend?

Moomin8 · 03/10/2019 23:34

Oh I mean those in the public eye. And on Instagram.

Actually where I live there are a lot of thin people. Maybe it depends on location.

Really? You've never seen any of the "thicc" trends and Kim Kardashian's (almost certainly artificially inflated) arse which is apparently something to aspire to?

IHaveBrilloHair · 03/10/2019 23:41

What makes you think this?

Moomin8 · 03/10/2019 23:42

The KK effect was indeed all over the internet but it seems to be on the wane now. Something I notice having a teenage dd who looks at Instagram.

I bet a large proportion of Instagram photos are filtered though

Moomin8 · 03/10/2019 23:46

You may be right @Tinkletwat

I love fashion. Really love it. Clothes are very interesting and full of expression and fun to me.

Any one / any organisation that tries to dictate how my actual body shape (something over which I have limited control. Size yes, shape no; legs always gonna be that length, arse always gonna be that shape) can go fuck itself.

I detest women’s body being fashionable or not.

LeedsGirl1 · 03/10/2019 23:55

I hope not because I’ll be f*cked Grin

Me too, especially as I have daughters. The women I've noticed who were small to begin with but are getting smaller by each Instagram post are Kendall Rae Knight, Adele Exarchopoulos and Paula from the LDN diaries (beauty guru). None of these women are super famous but they all do what they think is popular...

Agree with @SinglePringle in principle here, however there is a "fashion" for a body shape, as much as there is for clothing trends. I don't think the fashion designers (ie catwalks) are the driving force behind the body shape trend any more, I think it's more social media driven, especially for young women who are often the most influenced and the ones who follow the trends.

Reality shows and celebrities are now setting trends for body type and I agree with the OP that whilst celebs such as Beyoncé, J Lo and KK set the trend for a curvier body, that's now on the wane. When you look at the most popular influencers now they're all very slim size 6-8 without too many curves.
