What's the point.

We need to decarbonise the economy, which is going to mean some kind of planned recession. It. Will. Hurt.

Tbh I think this will be forced through circumstance before it happens by choice. I’m scared for my dd’s future but I think the point of no return has passed and we just have to live it.

How would expect them to get to Australia?

Same way they did in previous centuries before the planet started looking like it wasn’t going to support life. At least that way was self limiting in that it was arduous and expensive to travel globally. In context 100 years isn’t that long and the amount we travel now compared to then now is astounding when you think about it.

I have family scattered across the world and sadly the nature of that means that you’re less likely to see them. There’s no god given right to travel anywhere in truth and it’s generally for self serving reasons rather than anything of any value.

You do have another travel choice when it comes to a trip to Australia Starlight. Don’t go. Unless you’re the only surgeon capable of doing a specific life-saving operation and there’s a queue of fifty mortally ill Australians waiting for you, you have a choice.

I’ve laid into the OP with the rest of us because it’s a ridiculous post with no background and they’ve buggered off.

However there is a genuine issue with greenwashing when people make trivial green gestures (sometimes even with negative carbon implications) and then feel absolved from making choices with huge carbon footprints. Using reusable wipes doesn’t make you a worse person but neither does it offset your steaks and flights to Australia in any measurable way.

Well please do yourself (and everyone else on that flight) a favour, by buying a packet of disposable wipes just for that flight!!!

Musicalmistress · 03/10/2019 18:13

How would you like me to get there...walk?

ppeatfruit · 03/10/2019 19:55

Well they used to go by boat 70 or 80years ago ago, there could easily be clean fuelled boats , it would take longer of course , but everything would in a low or no dangerous emissions society.
