What?

Fuzzywuzzywuzzy · 02/10/2019 22:30

Explain please. What are munchkins and what have you seen to make you hopping mad?

Greysparkles · 02/10/2019 22:31

Nappy bins aren't a new invention? I had one 13 years ago!!

holidays987 · 02/10/2019 22:32

Explain

LucaFritz · 02/10/2019 22:33

If you read it you'll see you throw the whole plastic bin away when its full not just the nappies
www.amazon.co.uk/Munchkin-Bagit-Freestanding-Disposable-Nappies/dp/B00506KMRK/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
Link for those who can't see the piccy i forgot MN doesn't let all users view pictures if they are on the app

OP posts:
Pinkflipflop85 · 02/10/2019 22:33

I think it is because you throw away the whole bin when it is full?

JasBBGG · 02/10/2019 22:34

Who would keep up to 30 nappies in a bin?!

StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2019 22:35

Yeah that's bad. I'd have probably had one but it's bad..
Are you sure that's what they mean by disposable? They don't mean easy to empty?

Fuzzywuzzywuzzy · 02/10/2019 22:35

Aaagh!
Just seen the ad. It didn't show before.

Can't see anything wrong with the product. If you like it buy it, if you don't, don't buy it. Simple.

StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2019 22:35

Excellent point. Bleurgh.

StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2019 22:37

Do you feel that way about every product fuzzy? A lot of us would argue its not simple any more. We all need to challenge as much as we can - while accepting none of us is perfect. I'm rubbish with this stuff but even I've started thinking a lot more about it ams changing my habits.

LucaFritz · 02/10/2019 22:43

No i looked into it they are literally encouraging parents to throw away the whole bin once full!! I can't be the only one who thinks this is sheer mental considering we are all supposed to be limiting single use plastics. Even using a nappy bag and binning it is better than this! Whoever came up with this idea clearly hasn't been keeping up with current affairs

OP posts:
Brexitstash · 02/10/2019 22:44

Agree OP. Utterly grim.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 02/10/2019 22:45

Who would want to lug around a bin with 15 nappies in it?! Bonkers.

Greysparkles · 02/10/2019 22:48

Even using a nappy bag and binning it is better than this!

Is it though? It doesn't state what it's made from? So it could turn out to he a lot more environmentally friendly than nappy bags

LaurieMarlow · 02/10/2019 22:51

I see no need to nappy bins anyway, but this is ridiculously wasteful.

Fuzzywuzzywuzzy · 02/10/2019 22:53

@StealthPolarBear

I do care about a lot of things, but in this instance I can't get myself worked up about it. Maybe the reason might be that if you are using disposable nappies like the majority of mums (including me back in the day) and adding to the landfill pile, a little bit extra will make no difference whatsoever. Also as someone upthread said who wants that amount of used nappies in one place, however much they try and upsell the product. So the trader will get a few sales but most people will steer clear for hygiene reasons rather than environmental ones.

Surely if someone was so fired up about protecting the planet they would be using cloth reusable nappies in the first place!

I'd rather people got worked up about recreational alcohol use. Surely that's bad for people, leading to a drain on the NHS and other services, leading cause of domestic abuse, murder, fatal car crashes etc. But that's not a popular view (for now anyway but I live in hope Wink).

LucaFritz · 02/10/2019 22:55

Well if it boasted eco credentials and was biodegradable you csn bet they'd have it capital letters in the ad proudly stating so but the fact they don't tells me this is just your average plastic bin designed to go straight off to landfill....but that's fine because you can order more a whole pack of 5 of them! 😑

And it's that kind of "I'm alright Jack" bullshittery that has got us all in this mess in the first place. We're all doomed if everyone has your attitude Fuzzy

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2019 23:04

Do they really mean fill it up and throw it out?
Or do they mean throw it out when you're done with nappies (so three ish years)
I just don't understand how it works, do you wait till its half fill and then order another? Do you stack them up? Surely just emptying it and reusing it is actually easier

LucaFritz · 02/10/2019 23:06

They mean throw it out when its full then order more of them i don't know if you can see the pic i attached but it states Disposable bin and they sell them in packs of 5 on AmazonHmm

StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2019 23:07

Ah :(

GoosetheCat · 02/10/2019 23:10

If you listen to the news we're all doomed anyway. Sorry, can't get worked up over this 🤷

ReggaetonLente · 02/10/2019 23:12

I agree its awful OP

timshelthechoice · 02/10/2019 23:18

Reproducing itself is a pretty irresponsible in this climate, but this is pretty bad.
