To take a 6 year old to see the Lion King?

Dd loves all the Lion King films and songs, would I be unreasonable to take her to London to see it on stage? The price does put me off a little but it is something that I want to see too and I kind of want to take her when she is still excited about it. We have seen lots of shows based on the Julia Donaldson books so I know she likes going to the theatre, though I appreciate this will be on a whole other level.

YANBU. I’m taking my 7 year old to a matinee production of the lion king. Hope you and your daughter enjoy the show.

Someone gave me tickets for this when my daughter was 3. I thought it was crazy at the time and she obviously doesn’t remember it but I can still remember the look on her face and how much she enjoyed the show. She’s now an adult and it’s one of my favourite memories of her childhood. You won’t regret it 😊

We took my DS2 when he was 6, he loved it

Irrelevant but Elton John came to sit in the audience with David and his kids whilst we were there

I took my 4yo as we were given tickets as a gift. He was fine and wasn't really into the Lion King beforehand so I'd say your DD will love it and have a great time!

My 6 year old has just seen it and enjoyed most of it. Got a bit tired towards the end but we did go to the evening show. It's so visually stimulating but the story is very simple and easy to follow. Enjoy!

Do it! It’s amazing and you won’t regret it

Ah thanks everyone. I've got to persuade dp that it'll be worth it for her now! I see it's in Southampton next year, it's probably a similar amount of time to drive to Southampton as it would be to train to London, would anyone recommend either venue? Also is it likely to be on again in London if we don't go in 2020?

If you go, have afternoon tea in one aldwich, it's AMAZING. Best one I've been to I think.

ElizaDee · 02/10/2019 22:09

Sorry, one aldwich is right next door.

Take her-shell LOVE it<img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Grin" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/grin-D7Eg_B6y.png"><img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Grin" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/grin-D7Eg_B6y.png"> Its an amazing show, Ive never heard a bad-or even a mediocre-review of it!! Depending on how old she is, consider the afternoon performance, you dont want her too tired to enjoy it or for her to be falling asleep towards the end, as you`ve said it costs a lot of moneyShockShock, so you need to make the most of itGrinGrin

Took mine when he was 6. He still remembers it better than I do. He had been a few times to other shows before that though so was used to the experience and no trouble sitting and being quiet etc.

Yes definitely, took a 4 year old last year and going again this year. It’s brilliant! The songs, costumes, amazing. We were in the stalls and the actors come along the aisles. Prices are crazy though, same seats cost 3 times as much as last year!
Go to the matinee show and have afternoon tea at One Aldwych, it’s a Charlie and the Chocolate factory themed one. Or go to Milk train for a special candyfloss ice cream!
