This director is bonkers.

Dc's teenage theatre group is rehearsing a production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Apparently the director is vegan, so all references to foods of animal origin have been changed. Mr Tumnus now serves Lucy tomatoes on toast instead of sardines on toast, and a nice, lightly-boiled potato instead of a boiled egg.

Most of the kids, including the vegetarians, are not pleased, especially those who already know and love the Narnia stories.

Surely they should all be eating welsh cakes.

Just tell your DC that if they go into the theatre, they'll hear lots of crap like this.

LetThemEatDrama · 02/10/2019 07:10

The food is one problem but please follow up and tell us what on earth happens in the scene where Aslan the lion gets sacrificed, fairly brutally as well for a children's book??? Will the director have the Queen giving him a very harsh look instead and him keeling over in shock?

And when Father Christmas gives children a sword and a bow when they're essentially about to fight a group of animals?

Uppercase 'i' not 'l' Smile

Yes, we’ve all found it, thank you, you really don’t have to spell it out.

I thought beavers were omnivorous. Still, it's a fantasy, and veganising the story is daft.

It's like modern editions of Enid Blyton's Famous Five stories, where they wear jeans, and pay 50p for things, yet everything else is of its time - jarring and inappropriate.

I agree that it's bonkers. Either do it as is or not at all.

Guess what show opens tonight?

Sweeney Todd! GrinGrin

With human beings being murdered and made into Quorn pies. Confused
