To think anyone who says they 'work hard but play harder' is a bit of a twat?

YANBU. Same as 'party hard'. Confused

PositiveVibez · 30/09/2019 20:06

Definitely wanky.

EskewedBeef · 30/09/2019 20:06

YANBU. Go big or go home.

7Worfs · 30/09/2019 20:07

YANBU.
I currently work for a company that describes itself that way. Vom.

Wolfcub · 30/09/2019 20:07

Yanbu

Faez · 30/09/2019 20:08

Makes me think of a young guy working in sales who likes to get pissed up every night with the "lads"

Butchyrestingface · 30/09/2019 20:08

Or ‘team player’.

YANBU

cornstarch · 30/09/2019 20:11

You don't have to be mad to work here...

7Worfs · 30/09/2019 20:11

Oh yes, team player. It’s a toxic term, used to coerce people into shit they aren’t supposed to do.
Even better if it’s rated in appraisals and tied to bonuses! Angry

TalentedMsRipley · 30/09/2019 20:12

Agreed.

EskewedBeef · 30/09/2019 20:12

I hate team players. I wish everyone would just stay on their own.

fernandoanddenise · 30/09/2019 20:13

File under ‘Go big or go home’ and ‘make my own luck’ - bullshit ego wank from estate agents / salesmen and reality tv stars.

EntropyRising · 30/09/2019 20:13

Great if someone does in fact work hard and play hard, but the turn of phrase does seem to be the domain of complete wankers.

longwayoff · 30/09/2019 20:13

YANBU

ShirleyPhallus · 30/09/2019 20:14

Same people that “tell it like it is” IMO

PersonaNonGarter · 30/09/2019 20:15

He is a complete wanker. Now and going forward.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 30/09/2019 20:21

How do you even 'play hard' anyway?

OP posts:
EntropyRising · 30/09/2019 20:22

You sky dive, naturally.

isabellerossignol · 30/09/2019 20:24

Sounds like the sort of person who gives 110%...

AWafferthinmint · 30/09/2019 20:25

Up there with 'I'm crazy me'. Usually said by someone who really isn't!

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 30/09/2019 20:26

I should probably confess I have dived from the sky...it was bloody amazing BUT I'd never say I played hard...I prefer playing with as little effort as possible!

Was it David Brent? 😂

ByStarlight · 30/09/2019 20:35

“I don’t suffer fools”

In my experience this tends to be announced proudly by selfish, self-centred people who have little empathy or kindness towards others. It’s my personal pet-hate of of phrase that tells a lot about the person saying it.

anyoneseenmykeys · 30/09/2019 20:35

Reminds me of someone who said with a straight face that their team worked hard so played hard.

A shitty little office with people not starting before 8am and closed by 6pm Grin Played hard indeed!

Mind you, the manager used to stroll in with sunglasses and a coffee - fine, I do it too - but telling everyone that it made her look successful and like a New Yorker Grin Grin Grin
In a small English commuter town of course.
