When you say 'plus size', what size are you actually talking about? Because plenty of brands' standard ranges go up to sizes which other brands might consider 'plus size' - eg some plus size ranges start at 16 or 18 and stop at 22 whereas others go up to 32 or something.

Matching mother and baby outfits are a fairly niche requirement anyway, and only a few brands really do them - so if by 'plus size' you mean sizes that are only typically stocked in specialist plus size stores I think you might struggle as the Venn diagram for those two requirements might be quite limited.

Personally, if you want to coordinate, I think it might be nicer to wear matching colours or something like that? A grown woman and a one-year-old typically do not suit the same clothes but you in a grown-up dress / jeans and glam top / jumpsuit with your daughter in a little baby dress in a matching colour or a cardigan to match your top or something could be cute.

What size are you looking for OP? Have you looked at Frugi?

Milliways · 30/09/2019 17:17

PatPat do them, also loads of whole family matching pyjamas.

Platypusmama · 30/09/2019 17:23

Not sure what size you are Op but Olliella dresses go up to XL and they do matching girl ones too. Here’s the link! olliella.com/collections/wares-by-olli-ella

The little girls one is so cute! (I too matched my LO for her birthday, so we can be saddos together Blush Grin)

EleanorReally · 30/09/2019 17:26

what for? a special photo/occasion?

QueSera · 30/09/2019 17:28

If there aren't any pre-made ones, could you create your own matching outfits using 'similar' looking items - eg both of you in denim dresses; stripey dresses; animal print dresses; sparkly gold dresses etc?
PS Matalan do some mum/daughter and family matching PJs

Welshrainbow · 30/09/2019 17:30

Try the Duns dresses, they have matching adult and baby sizes.

Beamur · 30/09/2019 17:31

I used to do this (accidentally) all the time with DD and to be honest in my 20's it seemed to happen a lot with my Mum too - we'd go out in near identical outfits.
I think dressing to co-ordinate can look quite cute.
I don't wear dresses or patterns much so would end up with similar outfits rather than identical ones to DD.

Shantotto · 30/09/2019 17:39

I got matching recently. Long sleeve t shirt for me, t shirt for DS and dungs for baby DD. I loved the print so much I couldn’t resist! I took a picture of us all matching and now they’ll just go into our wardrobes and some days I’ll have my top on, they won’t etc. Just a bit of fun and I’m glad I’ve got my hands on some of the awesome clothes the kids wear instead of my boring stuff!

I got it from Duns Sweden - but it wasn’t cheap! Won’t be doing it again in a hurry. Fab quality though.

applesandpears33 · 30/09/2019 17:42

If you like sewing you could try Clothkits. You can buy clothes for children and adults that use the same fabric but are different styles.

tinkering · 30/09/2019 17:43

If you’re looking for Halloween outfits then I know asda do matching mother and child outfits. I say ‘halloween’ it’s basically a coloured tutu/skirt so maybe you could get away with it with a plain t-shirt?

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 30/09/2019 17:49

What about this? Too subtle? Grin

Hoppinggreen · 30/09/2019 17:58

For your daughters first birthday party? Are yiu having a cake smash as well?

Passthecherrycoke · 30/09/2019 17:59

I don’t know why everyone is being such a wanker. You don’t like it, who cares? It takes all types to make a word

Passthecherrycoke · 30/09/2019 17:59

*world not word

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 30/09/2019 18:01

I dint think there’s a matching outfit for that. Well I bloody well hope not!

Venger · 30/09/2019 18:05

I don't get why some people on MN ate so sneery about matching outfits or - gasp! - cake smashes. No one is forcing you to participate so why do you care if other people want to do it?

Katnisnevergreen · 30/09/2019 18:11

Juno jacks do lovely clothes that are breast feeding friendly and do matching fabrics for kids too

underthebridgedowntown · 30/09/2019 18:12

@Venger probably because it's so wasteful. Food waste and one-time outfits - just what the planet needs more of...

Venger · 30/09/2019 18:16

Where has OP said that she is only wearing the outfit once? Or that she's even having a cake smash? Cake smash cakes aren't even proper cake anyway, they're usually a small, very thin sponge made with very basic ingredients and coated in thick buttercream.

Passthecherrycoke · 30/09/2019 18:25

I’m Confused re cake smashes being a waste. If you eat a cake or smash it it’s still consumed isn’t it? It’s a nothing problem

StockTakeFucks · 30/09/2019 18:26

There are loads on ebay but no idea about quality. Most of them will look nice, but from experience, once they arrive the material is very plasticky.

surreygirl1987 · 30/09/2019 21:01

I tried to find some. Etsy was good but expensive. I found Matalan and Next but they did a tiny selection and it was annoyingly separate on the shop floor and not clewrly labelled mummy and me so I had to go up and down between floors to try and find matching itens... the staff didn't have a clue, even though it's advertised on their website. Primark should jump on this trend - they'd do well (even if some of the other mumsnet posters disagree!!)

GPatz · 30/09/2019 21:49

Theres obviously some market put there for this as I saw a line of matching men's/baby/toddler clothes the other day.

RachelRosie · 30/09/2019 22:41

Try Pat Pat.... its an American. I got my DD and DH (plus size) matching t-shirts for their first Christmas.

Matching dresses for a birthday sounds like a very cute idea
