My ds has started secondary school and I usually drop him off in the mornings? He has told me to drop him off a road before the school? He told me that this is in case someone sees me. Confused. I'm hideously average in every imaginable way so...

Answers on a postcard please?!

Really enjoying this thread!

I'm not a mum but I occasionally do the school run with my two little nieces. DSis provided me with very detailed instructions for the elder one: "Don't stand outside her classroom; she'll find you. Don't say her name. Do not hug her in case her friends are watching. Don't ask her about her day". Etc etc.

All of which promptly went out of my head at collection time. I behaved like the besotted auntie I am and ran across to her, enveloping her in a big hug. In front of the whole class Shock

I've ruined her entire life, haven't I?

I once walked past my ds when he was in a group with his mates, he was the only one not to say hello, lol

He's older now and would just ask for money.

KUGA · 02/10/2019 10:04

He`s being a cool dude .

Aww, my foster DS even when in his last year at school let me drive him to the gates (although he was going in the front and walking straight out the back gates at school but hey ho!) but he much preferred it when I had my husbands car (Small super fast thing!)

Thank god it’s not just me!
My sd once went mental at me
We where in Superdrug and she wanted to walk home but didn’t have her keys on her
So being nice I went to dig through my handbag to find mine to give to her
I’m the most embarrassing creature known to man because of it!

My own dd once called me an embarrassment in town (I’d done nothing!)
So I followed her round town for an hour saying the word ‘vagina’ on repeat
She soon got over being embarrassed!

I’ll show her embarrassing!

You just have to laugh. DD use to hold my hand and let me kiss her at school, just before her 10th Birthday she told me it had to stop in public.

Whitelisbon · 02/10/2019 10:22

A friend of ours (who's known my dc since they were babies) is an expert at being embarrassing.
Dd complained one day that he'd waved at her when she'd been with her friends, so, a few days later, he met her off the school bus, hollered "darling angel girl" and gave her a properly sloppy kiss on the lips.
Most of her friends have known him for years too, so they all thought it was hilarious.
She didn't speak to him for weeks ShockGrinGrin

This made me laugh.
We live pretty close to school but as It was raining yesterday I agreed to drop them off at a reasonable distance of course. Basically I missed the drop off opportunity and got caught in the flow of traffic so I had to pull into the school right outside the front door. I've never seen the kids move so fast to get out of that car. The fact I was still in my PJs probably didn't help but I had stuck s coat on so it wasn't that obvious Grin

My DD is 10 and she normally has no problem giving me a kiss, saying goodbye or love you. Walking to the shop with her one day, holding her hand until we walk past a group of people from her class then it was hand dropped I don’t know you anymore. Walked round the corner away from them and the hand comes out again🤷🏻‍♀️😂.

MidnightMystery · 02/10/2019 10:48

Please just drop him off at the road before , it's not about you or the way you look it's about him and him being a cool kid!

My nan used to drop me to school she had an old banger car and I asked to be dropped at the side road ... she didn't listen and it ended with everyone laughing at me saying "you getting picked up in that rust bucket aswell" Blush

Oneborneverydecade · 02/10/2019 10:49

minmooch I like your style!

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 02/10/2019 10:54

On occasion I used to drop mine off, ensuring it was on the wrong side of the road, purely so I could put down the window and yell

"Byyyyeeeeeeeeee Baaaaby, mind the road....shall I cross you over??"

Mind you we used to have a retired black cab, so everyone knew who was in there :o

Skyejuly · 02/10/2019 11:03

I used to give my dad strict orders NOT to go too close to the school!

Difficultcustomer · 02/10/2019 11:46

Drop him off just outside your house, that should stop any embarrassment!

prawneater · 02/10/2019 14:58

My ds used to walk about 2 metres away from me at the shops. Walking any closer was not cool.

Recently I dropped him and realised he'd left something in the car. Called out the window - ignored me. Drove along side him beeping and calling to him - ignored me and kept walking until he could bolt through the gate.
