To have a Halloween party on November 2nd?!

... or is everyone over Halloween by then?

It’s the only date I can make work for DC’s 6th birthday, and they want a Halloween party... I’m not sure that’ll work!

(Can’t do an evening party, it’s got to be a weekend. It’s either that or Oct 20, but that’s half term...)

You could do a Halloween themed birthday, no problem.

It'll be fine as everyone will know it's really a birthday party with a theme.

A grown up Halloween party on November 2nd would be pointless, but that's different.

Perfectly acceptable on 2nd November!

Absolutely acceptable!

Yes do it. I have a kid born on the 31st and they often have their party at nearest weekend and often want a Halloween theme.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 28/09/2019 18:19

Why not? The whole week is built around Halloween and Bonfire Night. Do a bit of both.

Cherrysoup · 28/09/2019 18:40

It’s Dia de lots Muertos that day, so brilliant timing! Do some face mask like the ones they do in Mexico. You can print off templates from the net. I’m doing face painting at school the week before.

It’s perfectly fine. It’s a children’s party. DD is going to on on 20/10. She’s so looking forward to wear her witches costume. I’m sure she would want to again on 2/11 if she’s invited to one.

halloweenpartyq · 28/09/2019 18:54

Ooh Cherrysoup I didn’t know that! That’s a perfect thing to add in!

Day of the dead is a day based around remembering loved ones who have died. The dc build altars in schools and bring in photos of dead family members to be honored.
The food and drink are highly symbolic and individual likes and dislikes of dead relatives are factored in.
It is a very important cultural day and is a reflective day.
I'm not convinced it's ideal for a dc's party.

We're having a Halloween theme party on 1st November. I figured it's only one day after and a bunch of 5 year olds would love an extra day of dressing up.

halloweenpartyq · 28/09/2019 22:42

This is making me feel a lot better!
