To let my toddler watch a load of TV today?

Just called to pick up DD from nursery due to 3 x loose stools. Pretty sure these are molar related as absolutely no sign of virus etc. she is perfectly well and running about but rules are rules.

I have come home but have work to do and don't want to take it as a 'carers' day if possible as we only get 3 a year and inevitably I will need them for some other time. She is peacefully eating grapes watching Peppa while I do some work but I'm feeling guilty. Is this ok? Its pissing it down anyway and usually she watches 40 mins in the am and 40 mins or so (up and down and playing) in the evening before and after nursery. On days off we are out all day doing active type things.

Relieve the parent guilt please! (p.s. work know I am home with DD who is 2 and working from home and are happy with this arrangement. Obviously I will catch up a bit more when shes in bed)

It's fine- do what you have to do. If she's off colour, she'll enjoy the down time. Don't beat yourself up.

Witchinaditch · 27/09/2019 11:18

We all need down time! Sometimes they watch no tv and sometimes it’s more than usual. Be kind to yourself OP! Hope she feels better

Stroller15 · 27/09/2019 11:20

Do it. She might enjoy the downtime too!

ItsMilkAndEggsBitch · 27/09/2019 11:29

I have a poorly DD today and she is under strict instructions to stay under her duvet on the couch and watch tv all day to rest.

Don't feel guilty, the rest helps.

owl89 · 27/09/2019 11:31

Of course it's ok. Don't feel guilty. My 3 year old watches far more tv than I would admit to anyone, but oh well, he enjoys it and I get a rest / time to tidy up / feed the baby.

Catsick36 · 27/09/2019 11:41

Don't beat yourself up, our TV is on from the time they wake up to the time they go to sleep.

Napqueen1234 · 27/09/2019 11:54

Thanks all. I think she is a bit under the weather and she is very much enjoying her tv treat!

Don't feel guilty! Ive relied on peppa too! My son loves it and if an episode ends he will walk away from the tv and not watch anything else 😂 it's saved my sanity many times!

PreschoolYes · 27/09/2019 11:59

My DS is 3 and was sick last night so no preschool today. I fully expect he tv to be on all day!

totsalot · 27/09/2019 11:59

We are doing the same here too! Poorly DD and a stack of Disney dvd’s! Hope your little one perks up soon!

BirthdayCakes · 27/09/2019 12:20

Oh for godssake - I loathe TV but this is obviously absolutely fine!!

Don't give it a second thought OP..

littlevoicer · 27/09/2019 12:23

I have a sick DS (3.5) today. All he's done is watch telly and occasionally get off the sofa to play with toys.

Don't beat yourself up - as long as they're not staring at a screen all day every day, it's absolutely fine. Do what you have to do.

Anyway, my DC have learnt loads from TV. It's highly edukashonal these days Grin

Its fine.

Grapes are bad for runny tummies though.
