It's my Dad and step mum's wedding anniversary soon and would like to get them a nice meal in Whitstable.

Any good ideas?

Shamphire gets my vote

Wheelers!

The Fordwich Arms is brilliant, as is the sportsman and wheelers. Whitstable Oyster Co has gone downhill as a PP said, as has JoJos. Compasses Inn is also good, but bit further out. Wife of Bath too, but even further out toward Ashford.

Love love Whitstable. Start and finish with a pint in the Neptune! Deffo the Sportman- it's superb and a real destination place. The Oyster company is ok but not super special occasion. JoJos is fun for lunch.

We love the Neptune!!

Whitstable Oyster Co is a rip-off, I wouldn't bother op. Plenty of other nice places to go as pp have said

I also didn't like The Sportsman at all. The owner is just like The Soup Nazi from Seinfeld (tells people to fuck off and leave if they question/complain about anything). Please read the Tripadvisor reviews before thinking of booking. DH loved the food, but you have to put up with poor service in a rather grotty looking pub.

The crab and winkle

Love The Neptune too. And it allows dogs.

flamingjune123 · 27/09/2019 14:27

I also second the wheelers

Kanga83 · 27/09/2019 14:28

The Sportsman is good. Wheelers is tiny, but husband likes it (I think it's overrated but then I'm vegan and they struggle to make anything that isn't risotto). I think it was better years ago.
