To keep child off school

Morning,

My son has woken up before 5am and won't go back to sleep. Would IBU to keep them off school today due to tiredness? He's obviously not compulsory school age so wondered what would happen. He's exhausted poor boy.

Of course you don’t keep him home for waking early, that’s ridiculous.

Morgan12 · 27/09/2019 07:15

It's only an hour 😂
Hes had ten hours sleep!

Sotiredofthislife · 27/09/2019 07:18

Do you stay off work cos you were awake for a couple of hours in the night?

Lazypuppy · 27/09/2019 07:19

This can't be real? Of course you send him to school Confused

Weedinosaurus · 27/09/2019 07:21

That question wouldn’t even cross my mind. Send him in...

Crystal87 · 27/09/2019 07:37

Send him in.

My DD2 has been woken up by her cough every night this week and, mostly, awake early in the mornings too. She's fine otherwise so I've still been sending her in to pre-school, even though she's obviously tired. She only does half days and could easily be collected if necessary. Maybe I'm a particularly harsh mother but I didn't want to set a precedent.

Oysterbabe · 27/09/2019 11:27

Did you send him?

TriciaH87 · 27/09/2019 12:06

I would send him. My youngest has anemia so was often tired when first started school. He would fall asleep in the book corner or on the playground. Teacher would take him into the book corner and let him rest there. Still sent him in unless he was sick otherwise if they learn being tired gets time off school it will carry on happening. Last day of the week so has 2 days off after.
