To fucking HATE my hair and chop the lot off?

I have fucking awful hair. It's very fine, curly/wavy, kinky, flat, fluffy and frizzy and always looks a fucking terrible mess no matter what i do to it. I've tried to grow it long but it just looks stringy and shit. It's really getting me down and makes me feel like just shaving the lot off.

I've used loads of different intensive sulphate free shampoo/conditioner so its not that it needs moisture, its just fucking horrible hair. I've tried just using conditioner, just makes it a greasy mess. I don't want to spend an hour every day styling my hair, only to go outside in the wind/rain and it will be back to a mess again. When people say their hair is messy i laugh and think 'i wish i could get my hair to look half as good as that'. I'm so fucking pissed off with it, it doesn't look like ive brushed it most of the time Sad

Should I just cut the lot off or wear a wig?

Do Brazilian blow dries leave your hair very flat? Like when you use a flatiron?

Morgan12 · 26/09/2019 14:36

Extensions? They are really not hard to manage. I wash my hair once a week now and the style stays for days.

sashh · 26/09/2019 14:39

I can recommend one in Wolverhampton if you are prepared to travel.

I've just had about 30 cm chopped off (to donate to little princess trust)

HMArsey · 26/09/2019 14:42

@Snoopdogsbitch, what sort of style is your short hair? I'd like a compliment attracting haircut! Grin

handslikecowstits · 26/09/2019 14:44

I can recommend an excellent hairdresser in Yorkshire, OP. I think often hairdressers don't know what to do with curly hair. You need a good one.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 26/09/2019 15:02

@handslikecowstits Tell me more, whereabouts in Yorkshire please?

handslikecowstits · 26/09/2019 15:05

@MrsGarethSouthgate have PM'ed.

@fisharesexier - no Brazilian blow drys aren't a straightening treatment and don't leave it flat - they take the frizz out. At least for me, I have thick and wavy hair and it has stayed like this, just not frizzy. If you have fine hair I guess a Brazilian blow dry might leave it flat but it wouldn't be poker straight.

Tobythecat · 26/09/2019 20:49

thanks everyone. Glad i'm not the only one with shit hair. I'm in Wales and can't travel far. I just want to be able to wash it, let it dry and it be half decent.

My hair is so thick and so frizzy and two years ago I got it cut quite short. I looked like a white woman with an afro. I quite liked it, for the drama, but I started growing it, and as soon as it got a little bit longer, it became a nightmare again. I have an undercut now and this is much better. I should have done it years ago. It's shoulder length now with quite a high undercut and it isn't perfect as it's still frizzy obviously but I can spend more time drying what IS there.

The brazilian blow dries! I've had a few of them as well but I think the hairdressers were mean with the solution, they used ''one portion'' or however it's sold. And it was never enough. And it made my scalp flake badly, and it never lasted 12 weeks. I don't bother now.

Ozziewozzie · 26/09/2019 21:00

My friend had similar hair and she got it braided. It looked amazing and lasted for ages. From what I gather, it was low maintenance too.

EugenesAxe · 26/09/2019 21:08

I’ve had very good results regards soothing down hair frizz after using Shea Moisture shampoo if you’re up for trying another brand. Shake it up though!

purplelila2 · 26/09/2019 22:05

Hi OP

Have you tried an Olaplex treatment on it ?
Look it up said to work wonders

Span1elsRock · 26/09/2019 22:10

I used to have long hair, and when I decided to grow my grey out, went to a short bob over about 3 cuts.

It's done my hair the world of good, it's completely changed texture and is shiny, soft and more well behaved than it's been my entire life. I'm growing the length back now it's more manageable. Wish I'd done it years ago.

Snoopdogsbitch · 28/09/2019 17:33

HMArsey sorry I didn't get back to you. My hair is short at the back and sides with a side parting on one side and the hair falls much longer on the other (down to my lip). It's straight and blonde but about 60% grey these days (damn my dad's premature grey) which I'm embracing with highlights and low lights and a violet toner from my brilliant hairdresser. I had a 26 year old barber come up to me a few weeks back to say he loved my hair- I took the compliment!

I go to an organic hairdresser and I don't know what he does but despite being grey and blonde ot shines amazingly. I need a cut every 6 weeks and colour every 12 so.it does take maintenance but everyday I give it a quick brush ( or blast with hairdryer if washing) and I'm good to go. Highly recommended.

Grimbles · 28/09/2019 17:43

My hair sounds si.ilar to yours OP, and as others have said the Brazilian blowdry has worked wonders. It's a lot easier to deal with now - about 10 mins with straighteners instead of the best part of an hour.
