Thread pulls on 2 week old blazer

Ds1 has just started high school and we’ve paid out the astronomical cost for all of his uniform.

I noticed within the first week, and even more so 2 and a half weeks in, that one arm (on the underside) has numerous small pulls in the fabric.

DS can’t think he’s done anything specific to cause it, so it appears to be from normal use.

Would this be considered normal wear and tear, or do I have grounds to complain to the suppliers?

If normal wear and tear, is there anything I can do to stop further pulling?

Pulls or bobbling? Is it along a seam or in the fabric?

halloumi2019 · 24/09/2019 13:51

It would be best to post photos, it’s impossible to judge if it’s faulty or not without seeing it

babycatcher411 · 24/09/2019 13:54

It’s on the fabric, nothing immediately next to the seem, full loops of cotton pulled through, not bobbling.

Sorry, I did think about a photo but DS is at school, then his Grandmas.
I’ll see if she can sort a photo and post again later. I maybe should’ve held off posting till I had a pic.

possibly catching/rubbing on a rucksack strap if carried on that side?

babycatcher411 · 25/09/2019 20:52

Belated photos, excuse the colour/quality, my camera was struggling to focus

Same with the last three I bought.
Snags on desks and tabletops

concernedforthefuture · 25/09/2019 21:43

IME, it's where the plastic edges have been picked off peeled off the classroom desk tops and the fabric on the sleeves is catching on the exposed chipboard.

babycatcher411 · 25/09/2019 21:48

Ah yes, that would make perfect sense for where it is.

Is there anything you can do with pulls to reduce further damage? Or is it just one of those things

A snag needle? You use it to push the snag back through and the rough part of the top of the needle helps pull the whole thing through so it isn't visible.

concernedforthefuture · 25/09/2019 21:49

Unfortunately I don't think there's much you can do except moan to school that their shitty classroom furniture is ruining the expensive blazers that they make us buy

Ewanthescreamsheep · 26/09/2019 08:02

When I was at school, some kids used to saw into the edge of the desk with their ruler, which would then cause blazers to snag.
