To move into a hotel with the kids?

Currently staying with in laws after our house flooded. There is a family argument between in laws and sil that has been brewing for a while and today during Sunday lunch almighty row erupted nasty screaming and shouting v.quickly.
I took the dcs (8 and 4) away from situation and returned back it’s got even worse threatening each other with police now etc. Sil lives on next street in same village as in-laws. My Dh says it will probably calm down but it’s the worse he’s seen them he said.
I’m not from this part of the country so no family or close friends I could stay with but kids obviously need to be close enough to go school and we need something close-ish to school until house sorted out. Wibu to take the kids to hotel they are not used to this screaming and shouting and youngest was scared earlier :(

YADNBU. I'd be gone already.

Of course you wouldn't be unreasonable, put yourself and your children first, it sounds awful to be around Thanks

Maybe for tonight but I wouldnt recommend it long term. We had to stay in a hotel for months when our house flooded. Similar age kids to your so insurance would only pay for 1 room. It wasnt a good experience.

I'd see if you can get a room for tonight and Monday night, and be in touch in mil to see if things have settled. Explain you dint want the kids to have to see everyone so upset and to give them space to resolve it

If SIL doesn't live at the house I wouldn't think it's necessary. Maybe just for tonight to let your PIL calm down but not for anything longer than that.
