Aibu to tell you all how amazing Albania is. In an attempt to get a new country a year decided to get ferry over from Corfu to Albania. Initial idea was to stay for the day. We ended up loving it so much we decided to cancel Corfu accommodation and stY here for a week.

We stayed in Serande for a couple of days then came up to Ksamil. The coast is gorgeous, people are amazing, no brits and sooo cheap.

Go mumsnetters go! Anyone else been?

OP, have they got rid of all the concrete bunkers from the coastline? There used to be plenty around Saranda.

Nixen · 22/09/2019 16:41

Not the OP but no @makingmammaries there are still some bunkers dotted about

The stag/hen parties are bad enough

They are ruining so many places. DD visited Prague during her interrail trip in the summer. Unfortunately it was over a weekend and she said it was full of drunken Brits on hen and stag parties. The atmosphere was ruined and she didn't feel safe.

Back in the day Dublin was the hen/stag party capital, and the locals used to dread the weekends when the hens/stags would invade the city.

I work with victims of modern slavery, lots of victims come from Albania. Probably not dangerous to visit as a women but it's not a place I'd like to have been born a women. It's an interesting place to visit though.

Yabu unfortunately. My sister used to work for a charity that rescued modern day slaves. The majority were trafficked from Albania.

Any money you have spent there, will have been going to the mafia who run protection rackets. Sorry but it is a backwards country that treat women like shite.

🙈🙈🙈 I don't mean to piss on your bonfire sorry, but that's what I know now.
