AIBU to get INSANELY IRRITATED when using the Boots website

The Boots website has been a source of sheer anger for me for years (and others, another forum I used to go on had a rolling thread) so this is just another in a long list!
The worst thing to date has been their incoherent listing of kids' clothes in the Mini Club section - if you filter by size you got a few in a handful of sizes then loads with the size "size". Useful.

Today I wanted to buy some plastic bibs similar to ones that I got in Boots before ages ago. Search for 'bib'. Get shown the 'section' of "feeding" > 'bibs and muslins'. Nothing relevant in there. No products that have 'bib' in the description that haven't been categorised into the section "bibs and muslins".

I try 'crumb catcher' as this is the sort of bib it is - no result.

I go into Mini Club kids' clothing (several hundred products), guess 'accessories', scroll down and finally find, in the boy's section, the entirely gender-neutral bibs I want. They have 'bib' in the product title and 'crumb catcher' in the description.

It's almost as if they don't want people to find the thing they're looking for. And don't get me started on the first thing you see when you search "We have 0 articles & videos on 'bib'" before you even see the product results. Who cares about articles and videos?

@eveholt a) when your NC failed you already said you'd been to a physical store like I advised and got them, so whatever I link will be irrelevant, b) I already linked you some, and c) if you can't work out how to Google things that's not my problem.

I've already tried to help you.

eveholt · 22/09/2019 15:44

@Lockheart No, I didn't say that. I haven't been to a physical store as that is difficult for me. You said something like that, and I said I didn't get what you were talking about.

You linked ones that weren't what I stipulated, as you well know as you missed out the words "fold-under" when you posted, as I'm specifically looking for floppy ones not stiff ones. I pointed that out to you nearly an hour ago.

Either you can't read or understand clearly worded posts, or you are trying to avoid conceding that perhaps the adult who started the OP had considered 'not using the Boots site', but felt it was necessary to buy both the bibs and other items that are "exclusive to Boots".

Your insisting that "Don't use it then" is invaluable advice is getting embarrassing.

I'll spell it out for you.

In order to buy the items I wanted, it was necessary to use the Boots website.

If you argument is that I should not have those specific items, then argue that instead.

It is awful. I've only ever managed to use it without abandoning my basket once and that was only because I needed to do a click & collect of formula at the airport.

eveholt · 22/09/2019 15:49

I see now - by me saying "going to the shop I'd bought from before" you assumed I had gone to a brick & mortar store not the online shop. You were incorrect to assume that. I was reiterating what I had said in my OP, about buying from the same retailer that I had previously.

‘Don’t use the boots website’ is such crap advice anyway. That doesn’t work for retailers - it’s in their best interest to make their websites and apps easy to navigate and simple to use. BOOTS is one of a few terrible offenders who just cannot get their online shit together.

Obviously, so obviously I can’t believe it needs being said, not everyone wants to/ can/ is able to visit a physical store, not everyone wants to/ can/ is able to use amazon et al.

Lots of people may use boots points and rely on them.

Etc etc, but I know most people don’t need this pointing out.

eveholt · 22/09/2019 15:53

xpost - they would've been perfect! I did search Amazon (although I try not to support them due to their tax-dodging) but gave up. What search terms did you use? I don't know if 'fold-under' helped or hindered my search but I could only find ones that were out of stock on amazon.

OP posts:

In fact I did find those exact ones that when I clicked through to the amazon page from google it said it couldn't find the retailer. So gave up.

@eveholt I used "plastic fold under bib".

You may also be interested in these ones from Mothercare www.mothercare.com/weaning-bibs/mothercare-safari-toddler-crumb-catcher-bibs---2-pack/322749.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjwt5zsBRD8ARIsAJfI4BgE34NzOI_6XKDkYMc6stR1Pu8VBDDhlzkjIrqyMXzmhh9gwQAc4UMaAqsGEALw_wcB

I also saw lots on eBay and other sites.

Just went on it to see if i could find some nice clothes for baby....jesus christ you aren't joking OP it's so glitchy and and kept going on stuff i hadn't even clicked on Hmm i didn't even make it to the baby section to see what clothes they had

eveholt · 22/09/2019 16:21

(this is a bit of a derail but...)
I am being completely honest when I say, googling "plastic fold under bib" gives me a two full pages of results that aren't what I want (Which articles about 'the best bib' etc or clicking through to Amazon message saying "We’re sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site.") The image results give me the good ones, so click on that - takes me to the same Amazon 'not available' one.

And I had googled a few weeks ago as well.

ah, shopping online makes life so much easier.... Wink
