To be dreading leaving DD in childcare

I return to work in January when DD will be 9 months old. I am absolutely dreading it, I just can’t bare to leave her. I have a 2 year old DS and although I didn’t want to return to work after having him I didn’t feel quite like this. He was quite a difficult baby so I think I was ready for a break but DD is the most amazing baby and I just don’t want to leave her.

Please tell me it will be ok! I’m only going to be working 2 days so I know I’m lucky, but I don’t want to waste the next 2 months off worrying about work.

Of course it will be ok.

You’ve done it once. I often think that the people who struggle the most with leaving their child in a childcare setting are those who benefit the most from the time apart

Silly question, do you have to? Or do you think you should?

Honestly, my baby is 8 months and we have planned for me to go back when he's 3, I cant leave him either but I can financially do it.
Unless I do get bored/change my mind before then.

This is probably not very helpful and believe me I dont think everyone should be a SAHM.

It's just my gut reaction to you post

Just to add though, of course it will be okay!

Yes I do have to, we need me to be earning to contribute to the finances.

DD will be going to the same childminder as DS and so will be absolutely fine, I just hate the thought of leaving her.

You'll be fine, most parents feel this way. Once she settles in a week or two, it'll just be a normal part of your routine and you'll be glad to get out without her, socialise with colleagues again etc.

I think the idea of this may be worse than the reality. Once you have returned to work it will probably be fine, after a bit of readjusting of course. It's perfectly natural to feel the way you do...

@bbgxd very little opportunity to socialise with colleagues in my job. I get a ten minute morning break and 25 minutes for lunch but usually pop to the toilet quick and then work through.

That's sucks but it's still good to be out the house I suppose
