A lady on social media made a post about head lice and how she had tried everything and nothing worked!
I gave my advice of how I don't bother with chemicals anymore as it's a waste of money and I just pick them out and I offered to do her hair for free as a kind gesture because let's face it you end up losing the will to live when you've tried everything!

I went round and fortunately found nothing but she mentioned about making a business out of it, I had done some research and found a few company's that charge extortionate rates!

Dd has been back at school a week and already a head lice letter has gone out. So now I'm in bed thinking about giving this 'business' a try! Obviously it will be affordable and i can be mobile, so really I'm asking if this would be a service that you would use for your DC's or a family as a whole or even as a last resort?

i think you might hve to do more of a client package thing rather than one off.as they tend to need more than one treatment.so would you need to actually be paid to stick it with one "client" until it goes.or a time limit period to make sure they are gone rather than one pick thats is your lot?

@kateandme so maybe like s free consultation to see how infested they were, then a set price package of let's say 4/5 days, so treatment day 1 then two days later treatment day two then 3/4 days later treatment 3 and then a finally check 4/5 days after that?

I think you’d need to understand the life cycle of head lice a bit better before starting. A 4/5 treatment isn’t going to clear them.
It’s virtually impossible to clear all eggs as they are so hard to see.
You have to prevent adults laying eggs to break the cycle.
That is a two week plus effort. A 4/5 day package risks increasing local infestation.

Best and ultimate non chemical solution is wet hair, lots of conditioner, fine comb the hair in small patches at a time. Use a big clip to keep rest out of the way. Repeat nightly for two weeks. Check again a week later to be sure infestation is clear. Much easier on short haired children.

The old-fashioned hundred brushes a night is a genuine, good way of preventing infestation. It is adult lice that move across heads and a thorough brushing often injures them so they can’t lay eggs. Obviously only works if done daily. It’s not a guarantee, because they might already have laid an egg or two, but does help break the cycle.

What guarantee of results would you be able to offer ? How will you handle repeat infestation which people attribute to your service, which you are convinced are from other, new sources ? They would expect you to come back til they are free of live, how would you avoid working for free or being bad mouthed ?

How would you work out what level of customers you could reasonably handle. How would you handle it if you got overloaded ?

How would you get your first customers ? Could you convince someone to pay you when you are untested ? If you ages away initial treatments, how would you start to charge amongst parents who might have told their friends you had works for free?
