Husband phones at 5pm to say there are some drinks happening after work and to ask if I would mind if he went along. Of course I don't mind, that's completely fine. So I deal with swimming lessons, cook dinner for me and the two DCs, homework, bath, bed and so on. As I say - fine. Literally the minute I get back downstairs ready to kick back with a chocolate orange and a Netflix binge of my choosing, with no tea slurping, nose whistling, or general annoying commentary, I get a text telling me the fucker is 5 mins away.....AIBU or is this just not on? (Light-hearted, obviously..kind of..)

My DH trumped this. Was supposed to go away a fishing weekend, leaving on Friday and back the Sunday. I organised my mum to have DD who is still a baby on the Saturday night. Fantasised about a night in my jammies, with a large pizza deal meant for 2 l, all for me to stuff my fat face with while drinking far too many gins and watching the new ru Paul's drag race to which I would be giving live commentary on (esp after the gin) and then to top it off I dreamed of a full night's uninterrupted sleep starfished alone in the bed.

THE FUCKER CAME HOME ON THE SATURDAY AFTERNOON. No warning or fuck all. Waltzed in and wondered why I wasn't happy to see him.

I had to actually spend the night with my husband and even worse I had to share my pizza deal. FUMING.

I still dream of a night uninterrupted sleep starfished on the bed alone. Sigh.

Oohhh this pisses me off!! I tell DH he's not allowed in the front room when this happens 😂

Worlds0kayestmum · 18/09/2019 21:52

Mine went fishing for 2 minutes and right up to leaving was saying he might not go or might just stay one night instead. 'No darling, it's fine, I'm FINE at home with the kids, don't worry about us, have fun. DON'T COME HOME' I want to watch Bake Off in peace and eat pasta in obscene amounts 😂

leomama81 · 18/09/2019 22:04

This is why I'm happy to be a single mum! 😂😂😂

IamWaggingBrenda · 18/09/2019 22:05

I can't wait for him to bring it through so I can listen to him drinking it
😂 This made me laugh out loud!!! Thank you!

I love my husband so much.

I also get really excited when he goes out with his friends so I can sit on my arse watching shite and eating chocolate in peace.

LiveInAHidingPlace · 19/09/2019 02:45

"I can't wait for him to bring it through so I can listen to him drinking it."

SLURP.

My husband doesn't get sarcasm so this bit of sarcasm made me laugh.

What I love listening to is him on the phone. "Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh yes? Yes. Yes. Uh-huh. Yes. OK. Yes. Yes." FFS. GO IN THE OTHER ROOM.

Canyousewcushions · 19/09/2019 02:46

Haha I've got one who does this too, comes come at 9pm clearly thinking he's being all helpful for being home nive and early. And then objects to whatever trash I was looking forward to watching in his absence....

Have been trying to explain the concept that I'd rather he stayed out a bit later if he's going to miss bedtime Grin

GeorgiaGirl52 · 19/09/2019 02:55

That is one advantage to being a single mom. Get them to sleep, then open a box of chocolate covered cherries and a bag on potato chips and watch BBSAmerica.

Bellsofstclements · 19/09/2019 06:55

Completely agree.

Him: "Going for a drink after work"
Me: runs like loon, PJ's on, glass of wine, moustache removed face mask on, foot mask on, 5 minutes into an episode of anything that isn't teletubbies
Him: "back in five"
