Its always been awful, and as I personally know people who were at Hillsborough I wouldn't wipe my arse with it. However, just when you think they couldnt sink any lower they do just that. The stuff about Ben Stokes has really crossed a line and has caused great distress to him and his family. What on earth posessed them to think that was of any interest to the general public whatsoever?

#DontBuyTheSun', 'The Scum' and 'BoycottTheSun' have all been trending on Twitter all day. There is genuine anger about what they have done this time. Hopefully the rest of the UK are now waking up to something that people on Merseyside have known for the past 30 years. The Sun isn't even fit to wipe your arse with.

It’s called the gutter press for a reason. And it’s one of the ways I judge a person for sure.

I’m not blaming the Ben Stokes, before anyone jumps on me but it’s one of the reasons I’d never want to be famous. Trawling through your dirty laundry is bread and butter journalism. I’d never read it, I’m not interested but even I know he’s not the only celebrity who’s had a family member murdered. While there’s a market for it newspapers will always publish it. At least this time it can be verified as truth- though cold comfort to the family that have been dragged through it.

Not sure Ben set out to be famous, he is a very talented sportsman and if my child was the same I would naturally encourage them to progress. Despite your statement your not blaming him, you are.

Ben and his family have nothing to be ashamed of, the "dirt" they have is no reflection on any of them. I'm not sure why the Sun and it's low life readers think it is.

People need to show they are not interested in "famous peoples" private lives and stop buying this shitty rag!

After i hit send I realised it wasn’t clear. Bens story definitely isn’t a dirty secret. I meant more generally, things you’d prefer people didn’t use as gossip.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 18/09/2019 08:46

What a ridiculous statement from the paper, in whose world would anyone imagine Ben, or his family would be ok with the sensational rehashing of this tragic event that dates back to before he was even born?

Besides, we all know the tactics they use, cooperate and well treat you more kindly than if you don’t, but we’re publishing anyway.

Just seen that Gareth Thomas has been speaking out. A so called journalist broke the news of his HIV to his parents before they heard it from him. As he says that can never be undone.

These low lifes are morally bankrupt.

Nothing is sacred to the red top rags.
I'm gutted for his family and feel so sorry for him.
He did the stuff with his bat, it was awesome.
The tragic family history is just mawkish.

Of course the Sun is vile, and so is the creepy old sex-crazed cadaver that owns it. Hurry up, grim reaper, I know there's been an official objection from Hell who don't want him, just do your job.

Also see the Tory dirty deal with the press over Levison. I see the Murdoch lackey Therese Coffey goes onwards and upwards.

With you all the way cheeseoncrumpets.

If The Sun will be closed down when it loses enough readers to make it unprofitable. That’s the only way we can be rid of it and I think it’s a perfectly possible outcome.

Rather than ban it, why don’t you just cover it up in your local supermarket or newsagent with something else and encourage your friends to do the same so that people think they’ve all been sold.
