2nd hand Xmas presents

Would it be okay to give some pre-loved/secondhand toys to my dd for Xmas?

The things that she's asked for are a few years old, I've managed to find some on eBay. Wibu to put them in a box and give them to her as a present? Would a 9yr old be bothered?

I've got her plenty of secondhand toys in the past, but they've not been for 'big' gifts such as birthdays or Xmas.

I do it.

Thorilicious · 16/09/2019 20:57

I'd do it too.

BeanBag7 · 16/09/2019 20:58

As long as they are on good working condition.

I’m not sure my eldest has ever had a new present!

If you’re concerned, maybe you could prep her a bit by talking about the environmental side, how important it is we all buy secondhand where possible etc etc. Talk about how pleased you’d be to get secondhand gifts etc.

Yes its fine. As a kid most of oyr big presents were used. Ive not bought my kids as much used but have when ive seen things they wanted in good condition.

If they are what she wants and in good condition then why not! Better for your finances and the environment so there are some positives. I think if I did it I would find a nice way to package them, gift box with tissue maybe? Smile

BlueSuffragette · 16/09/2019 21:03

Yes it's fine. Go for it. Smile

JaceLancs · 16/09/2019 21:06

It’s fine

LeithWalk · 16/09/2019 21:08

Yes, I've done it, don't think the DC's even noticed! ( and they got more of a range because it was cheaper)

loutypips · 16/09/2019 21:11

@Boobiliboobiliboo lol! Dd is already writing her list! I thought I'd make a head start to spread out the cost.

I'm glad others agree, a couple of people I've spoken to turned their noses up at secondhand toys, but I think it's okay.

I think I will have to be imaginative with the wrapping and she won't even know the difference! Trust her to pick a toy that hasn't been made for years! 😂
