Cleaners - last chance?

Hi mumsnetters,

Opinions please.

Have new-ish cleaners (two or three months). They have been a bit of a disaster from the beginning. They're supposed to do a full house clean, plus ironing each week. After a good first clean, I ignored a few things left undone the first few weeks, but the I started to pull them up on things like:
Not vacuuming key rooms (same room again and again until it became comedic).
Only ironing one or two kids items, clearly avoiding shirts etc.
Letting bathroom tiles go mouldy.
Leaving really obvious spills/marks which can easily be wiped away.
Always leave cobwebs around windows etc.
Plus many other things.

My house is generally, always tidy as I'm used to having a cleaner and would never expect them to have to clean around kids toys etc. I pay a considerable amount per month for the service. They're a new local company and I want to support them but worried I'm being precious now.

On their second week, I got home from work and they had failed to lock our doors.

Today, they have told me they have lost my house keys. My partner is frequently away and quite honestly it's made me feel rather unsafe.

AIBU to find a new cleaner?

I’d make them pay for new locks.

OMG get rid. I was thinking that before you said they didn't lock up but that would be the absolute final straw for me - they can't be trusted. I don't know why you even have to think about it!

dustarr73 · 16/09/2019 20:13

Get them to pay for new locks and then get rid. They sould awful and not at all trustworthy.

recklessruby · 17/09/2019 11:01

So they dont actually do much cleaning while they are there and lose your keys/leave your house unlocked?
Get on the phone to their office manager or whoever you pay and get the cost of new locks and keys from the company (should be insured anyway).
Then get rid. They arent doing what you pay them for.

nanamouskouri · 17/09/2019 11:16

Get rid of them. If they left the house unlocked and then lost your key does it have an impact on your home insurance? Mine definitely doesn’t cover me if my house isn’t secure ie locked!!

BanKittenHeels · 17/09/2019 11:20

Their insurance should cover paying to have your locks changed, you should ask them to sort this out immediately. You shouldn’t have to be out of pocket.

Whoops75 · 17/09/2019 11:20

Agree with everyone, get rid and get money for new locks.
