To call 111?

I've taken prescribed Dihydrocodeine and Oxycodone and I'm still doubled over in pain.
I can't get into a comfortable position and haven't slept at all.

I'm waiting for an operation to have my gallbladder removed.
The specialist says I should call as an emergency if those tablets don't hit the pain or I have a temperature I'm not sure if I do.

DH is fast asleep, I'm doubled over on the sofa downstairs.
I'm pretty sure 111 will call an ambulance, my local hospital will pump me full of morphine over the next few days until I'm comfortable and discharge me to wait for the operation.

I don't want to be in hospital, if I miss work I think they will sack me. I don't want to be in this much pain either, I'm exhausted. It hurts too much to think rationally.

I'm a grunting, incapable, sweaty mess.
Should I wait it out or AIBU to call 111?

Your husband hates hospitals so much that he would have watched you writhe around in pain rather than help you get to hospital? Lovely!

Anyway, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better and hope you're out of hospital soon

I hope that you're getting some relief from your pain now, OP. My husband suffered with gallstones and kidneystones and he found that the warmth from having a shower helped for a little while. Better than nothing, I guess.

ASauvignonADay · 16/09/2019 22:12

Hope you're feeling better OP.

I totally get the uncertainty around "should I call". I was in a similar situation a while back, a different pain but it was unbearable and I panicked that I'd taken a combination of two drugs that shouldn't be mixed. I writhed around for ages and kept typing 111 in my phone then panicking that I was wasting their time and they'd laugh at me. When you're in a lot of pain you're not always thinking straight.

BeCoolYolande · 17/09/2019 15:33

And that's how it was ASauvignonDay I wasn't thinking straight, which is understandable given the circumstances I think.

I'm still in hospital, they are trying to get on top of the pain and gallbladder removal is a definite.

It's probably a good sign but I'm getting bored now. Hopefully things will start moving in earnest soon.

Although it's bloody painful it's good to know that things are moving along now.

Again, thank you for your kindness everyone.

I’m glad you got help OP. Don’t worry about the snotty replies, lots of people, myself included question whether the pain is worthy of bothering doctors etc with. I hope you get to the bottom of the pain and feel better very soon. Flowers

Huge sympathy, OP - gallbladder pain can be unbearable Flowers
