To be worried? Can't get hold of Midwife

I'm just turning 12 weeks pregnant. I done the self referral to the midwife online over 3 weeks ago.

I still haven't heard anything. 3 days ago I called round and nobody was available. I managed to get hold of the community midwife's number and it went straight to voicemail. I asked my GP surgery about this and they said they 'think' she's on holiday Sad

Absolutely no help from the hospital maternity department. A few very rude secretaries have told me I'll just have to keep trying her number since there's nothing else they can do.

AIBU to be worried? I need a 12 week scan! Which I know can be done beyond 12 weeks (slightly) but even still....

Private blood tests are much more accurate.

I had a similar experience. Midwife at GP surgery works 1 day a week and I didn't hear for a few weeks. Was approaching 12 weeks. I called the locla hospital, explained, they gave me a date on the phone for 12 week scan and sent a letter confirming. Bloody midwife the had the cheek to text me saying 'sorry haven't been in touch but I've sorted your scan date, it's [date I bloody sorted directly].'

I know a few other people have given advice to do this too, but it did work for me. (in Kent).

NIPT blood tests are more accurate than the combined screening done at 12 weeks. I think the OP may be referring to the quadruple screening blood test which is done by the NHS after 14 weeks if for some reason you didn’t get the combined screening at 12 weeks.

Hi all, I did hear back from midwife. On Sunday! Apparently she'd been off for 3 weeks on a cruise Grin

No indication as to when the scan may be. I asked if it would be before 14 weeks and she's said hopefully yes.

I am not overly worried since I have 0 risk factors increasing the likelihood of any abnormalities but even still...

At least I got there in the end. Thank you for all the very helpful advice Thanks

To the PP who's midwife didn't bother answering and then had the cheek to say she had arranged the scan for you when in fact you did, I hope you put her in her place?! I'd have been furious

@ZogorElmer not all GP surgeries have the facilities to take bloods.
