AIBU to be worried about UK state secondary schools?

We are moving back to the UK in a few months and my son will be going to a UK school for the first time ever, he is 12. Where we live currently, children seem to remain as children for a lot longer than the UK. Schools are pretty strict, no swearing or sexualised talk etc. I was reading on Facebook a comment from a Mum who had to go into her daughter's school and in five minutes saw a young (possibly Year 7) boy shout across to another girl to 'Suck his cock' and a group of young lads just outside reception surrounding a young lad and intimidating him.
My heart was in my mouth. My 12-year-old is so excited at the prospect of living in the UK and going to school there but seriously, what are we letting ourselves in for? Shock

I think wherever you are, you might be being a bit naïve to think there is no swearing or sexualised talk among 12 year-olds. A strict school might mean that it doesn't happen in teachers' earshot, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, surely?

We live in the Middle East and schools are really strict about that sort of thing not that it is common anyway.

The good thing (IMO) about British state schools is that there is a range of pupils from all backgrounds.
Your DS will find his niche but will be aware that not everybody has a life like him

If I was in the UK and he been brought up there I would certainly believe that he would swear behind my back but honestly, he is a really innocent 12-year-old, purely because of the environment he is in (not saying that is good or bad by the way). Not streetwise at all but I think he is going to need to be....

@Pieceofpurplesky
I think it will be a real eye-opener for him, no bad thing but must admit, I did a little gulp when I read this other Mum's comments. Shock
