To ask whether you would send DD to childminders.

My 12 month old daughter started at a childminders for one day a week last week, making today her second day.

She’s woken up with a very small localised rash, two spots under her left eye, one on her nose and one under her right eye. I have no idea what they are, she doesn’t have a temperature and is eating and drinking okay but I wouldn’t know if it’s contagious or not? She did have her 12 month vaccinations on Monday and I was told she may develop a rash, but it looks like that usually develops after two weeks so I can’t be sure that’s what it’s from.
The only other symptoms I can think of is a standard common cold, but she’s had that for just over a week and is on the snotty nose only stage now.

I’ve text the childminder but yet to hear a reply, really not sure whether to send her or not.

What would you do??

I would send her as she is not sick. She will be fine Flowers

Check with the childminder, she will likely say it's fine and she will keep an eye on DD's rash etc.

@LegoPiecesEverywhere

Okay thank you! It’s not so much that I’m worried about her, I don’t think she’d have a problem with going. I just really didn’t want to accidentally spread a contagious rash to the other two children on our second day!

Send her but expect a phonecall. Cold symptoms plus spots might well be chicken pox!

Lindy2 · 13/09/2019 07:01

I'm a childminder.
If she is otherwise well I would accept a child with just 2 unidentified spots.
I would however be monitoring her for any more spots appearing or her starting to show any other signs of illness. If I had concerns I'd phone and ask you to collect.
Chances are though it's just a bit of a rash and nothing more will come of it.

@ginnybag

Oh I really hope not, I’ve never had chicken pox myself and I’m 39 weeks pregnant! If chicken pox could just hold off for a few months at least that would be great 😂Grin

Chicken pox can be dangerous for a pregnant woman. Have you had the vaccine?

Wallywobbles · 13/09/2019 09:43

My daughter had a reaction to her vaccinations at about a week not 2. So might be that.
