Wanted to give them to ds2's school next week as it's his birthday. It's a nut free school so am i ok to bring in a celebrations box?

Skittles are good because they also don’t contain gelatine like haribo. They are suitable for vegetarians or halal diets.

LauraPalmersBodybag · 12/09/2019 18:04

Worth mentioning though that gummy sweets have gelatine in - if there are halal students they can’t have those.

PurpleDaisies · 12/09/2019 18:04

Or some nice fruit?

I’m a primary school teacher. No one wants that. Better not to send anything.

LemonScentedStickyBat · 12/09/2019 18:07

There are double deckers in the big tub purpledaisies - I have just checked the one in my kitchen!

Peterpiperpickedwrongagain · 12/09/2019 18:07

Typing Are Cadbury’s hero’s nut free into google ........

All Cadbury Chocolate products are made in an environment where there is the possibility that non nut products may inadvertently contain nut traces.

Op take a bag with mini packs of haribos in instead. Not worth risking some poor child suffering anaphylaxis

velocitygirl7 · 12/09/2019 18:10

Nice fruit 😬
My friend still cringes at the memory of her mum insisting she take in carrot sticks and apple to give out on her birthday, that was nearly 40 years ago and she still thinks her mum was a pretentious arse for doing it!
If your dc school is nut free, obviously don't send sweets with nuts in, it's not exactly tricky to work out?

PurpleDaisies · 12/09/2019 18:12

lemon double deckers only “may contain peanuts, nuts” so that still doesn’t make any difference.

Clangus00 · 12/09/2019 18:17

Why do you need to send in anything?

Ginnymweasley · 12/09/2019 18:17

As the parent of a child that is allergic to nuts thanks for at least checking. But I would personally avoid chocolate, my dd cant have chocolate that is brought into school unless its smarties, maltesers, chocolate buttons as most chocolate is may contain nuts. I would say haribo or skittles is a much better idea as they are completely nut free.

Drum2018 · 12/09/2019 18:19

Send a box of maltesers in - no nuts.

ultrablue · 12/09/2019 18:22

I used to just send in haribo gelatin free sweets when mine were that age x

Twixandwater · 12/09/2019 18:26

if there are halal students they can’t have those. there are several Muslim dc in his class, is haribo definitely gelatine free?

Haribo and gelatine... Some have and some don't. Try looking at this link.

I didn't know there was that many variables for haribo!

NailsNeedDoing · 12/09/2019 18:34

The Muslim children won't be allowed to have haribo, nor will the children's that are vegetarian, it's a complete pain in the arse when they get sent in.

A couple of packs of Oreos might work, because that caters for the dairy free children as well.

ItchySeveredFoot · 12/09/2019 18:43

Definitely don't send anything in that "only" says may contain traces of nut!

flipperdoda · 12/09/2019 22:48

Skittles are excellent. Or starburst. I've got coeliac disease (i.e. 100% gluten free) and two of my friends are Muslim and vegan respectively and they're about the only sweets we can share!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 12/09/2019 22:51

Gelatine free Percy pigs

Howlovely · 12/09/2019 22:57

For your own peace of mind it might be best to Google which chocolates or sweets will be best to suit all your requirements. With the best will in the world people can be mistaken so for the complete avoidance of doubt I would just Google it.

Delilah2019 · 12/09/2019 23:22

If a product contains nuts you can read it on the ingredients
