Is this a bit cheeky?

How would you feel if someone you worked with said they were retiring, they have a leaving party and you and others buy them a gift. Then they return to work part time a few months later. Would you be a bit miffed that you bought them a gift when they are returning to work a few months later? Aibu to think it's a bit cheeky?

Do you think there are people out there rubbing their hands with glee about scamming their co workers out of a bunch of flowers and a garden centre voucher?

Lol, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Are you suggesting they planned all along thatthey were coming back and simply pretended to retire in order to receive a gift?

Several colleagues have done this. When they left the second time it was a leaving card and flowers rather than a big retirement thing. Was just pleased to see experienced colleagues and friends back at work TBH
