I know I would.

And I have discovered there is one in my neighbour’s garden. Do I tell them?

A human body?

Ilikethisone · 12/09/2019 12:51

Dog, cat?

No why would you? Most people will have previous owners pet buries in their garden?

Human body? Beat off calling the police
Let them tell the neighbours.

CarenzaLewis2 · 12/09/2019 12:52

Yes, human. Admittedly not freshly dead, but dead all the same.

OP posts:
gamerchick · 12/09/2019 12:52

How did you discover it?

Shelvesoutofbooks · 12/09/2019 12:53

Of course I would. Who wouldn't Shock

Aderyn19 · 12/09/2019 12:53

Your OP is maddening. If you want opinions then give proper details!

Templetonstunafish · 12/09/2019 12:53

Wouldn't it be on the deeds if it's a legitimate burial?

And they probably shouldn't be your first priority if it's not...

CarenzaLewis2 · 12/09/2019 12:54

I do a bit of historical research and was snooping through some archives and had a look at my own house and there it was. Dead.

OP posts:
Ilikethisone · 12/09/2019 12:54

So a historical burial. Not a murder victim or just dumped there.

Why would you? What business is it of yours? Maybe they know and dont care

TheMustressMhor · 12/09/2019 12:54

Oh gawd. I can see the DM picking this one up.

Yes, OP. Tell your neighbour unless you were the murderer who buried the body of course

Baguetteaboutit · 12/09/2019 12:55

How dead does a dead body have to be before the police aren't the first people you tell?

Baguetteaboutit · 12/09/2019 12:56

Ah, big x-post.

CarenzaLewis2 · 12/09/2019 12:56

Yes there was an archeological survey done before the houses were built and it’s clearly noted there. And it wasn’t removed, just recorded and then turfed.

Skyejuly · 12/09/2019 12:56

Shameless place marking

53rdWay · 12/09/2019 12:56

I’d want to know! (And if you really were the Carenza Lewis off Time Team I’d want you to turn with the geophys people and a camera crew and get cracking.)

BykerBykerOoh · 12/09/2019 12:58

I wouldn’t want to know.

CarenzaLewis2 · 12/09/2019 12:58

That’s the thing! I’d want to know, and would want to dig him up and poke about a bit, but I recognise that’s not a usual response perhaps.

Sadly I’m not Carenza off Time Team. If only.

I bet loads of people have historical burials in their gardens. People havent always buried their in a graveyard.

Not a big deal.

CarenzaLewis2 · 12/09/2019 13:00

I think it’s a big deal. But anyway would you want to know? I’m wondering whether to share this or not! I’d be thrilled and am gutted it’s not in our garden.

OP posts:
Twickerhun · 12/09/2019 13:00

They probably know. That’s the type of thing that comes up in searches

Twickerhun · 12/09/2019 13:01

Not literally comes up.

Hazhaze · 12/09/2019 13:01

Ok I was really into this thread right up to dig it up and poke it HmmGrin

Tell the neighbour. No one dig them up.

CarenzaLewis2 · 12/09/2019 13:02

Didn’t come up on ours, or on the other neighbour whom I’ve told. It’s just classified as an archeological feature and it’s only when you look up what it is that it’s clear it’s a burial.

OP posts:
sendinallthesheep · 12/09/2019 13:03

You'd want to dig up a person and "poke about a bit?". I mean, it's a hobby I suppose...Personally, I think the dead should be left alone, however long they have been deceased but I do recognise there is an awful lot we would not know about the world if we didn't "poke about" corpses.

Do you know your neighbour? If it is likely to upset or worry them, keep it to yourself. I wouldn't mind either way; I expect we are all a lot closer to dead things that we would like to think...

AlexaAmbidextra · 12/09/2019 13:04

I’d say mind your own business. They may not be as thrilled as you at the prospect so it may be a case of ignorance is bliss.
