Laura Ashley, bad reviews. I'm supposed to have an inter!

I am supposed to be attending an interview at Laura Ashley home this afternoon so decided to research the company. However I came across so many negative reviews about working for the company from low wage, pressure selling, rotas not done in advance so can't plan... All sorts of things, it's really put me off going. I already have a job so I'm not desperate for it, was just looking for something different.
Has any one had or knows anyone who has had any experience of the company??? Two of my children aren't feeling well and whilst I have someone who could look after them, I'm tempted to say I can't go because of them.
What should I do????

If you get the job and they don't offer you enough money don't take it.

OtraCosaMariposa · 12/09/2019 08:21

People who are happy in their job generally don't post reviews on websites.

Twickerhun · 12/09/2019 08:21

What people put online is often not a fair cross section of possible responses

Bobthefishermanswife · 12/09/2019 08:22

I'd go for the interview, you don't have to take the job if offered.

Blueuggboots · 12/09/2019 08:22

I agree with@Twickerhun.
I work for a company that's HUGE and has terrible reviews online but the bit I work for is great!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 12/09/2019 08:25

Go to the interview for interview experience if nothing else and make up your own mind.

I have posted positive reviews for the last two companies I have worked for.

Wibblewobble99 · 12/09/2019 08:39

Consider raising them as questions in an appropriate way at the end of the interview and see what their response is? They’ll like that you’ve done research and if loyal to their company will defend. You can always phrase it ‘how do your rotas work/how far in advance are they drawn up’ rather than ‘i read X about your rotas online’ I’d also be very careful if your current position is secure as I believe LA aren’t in the best financial position and not all that long ago were in administration. I know nothing is guaranteed but I would think twice.

We ordered some sofas from LA a few weeks ago. The assistant processing the order had some issues with the IT and the manager was so rude to him, it was embarrassing.

I commented to DP at the time that I hoped that wasn't indicative of the culture of the organisation. If I was spoken to like he was, I'd be straight to my next in line.

PurpleFlower1983 · 12/09/2019 08:47

I think I would be more worried about the medium to long term future of the company given its poor sales figures this year.

MrsMozartMkII · 12/09/2019 08:50

Ditto PP - I'd be more concerned about its future stability.

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/09/2019 08:51

Go to the interview if you are able. It will be good practice - unless you don’t need the practice. Do you have to leave a job to take a job there?

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/09/2019 08:51

Share price has nose dived btw.

Hobbesmanc · 12/09/2019 08:57

Its been in a precarious trading position for a while now and has refinanced. Its deffo vulnerable to the high street carnage at the moment

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 12/09/2019 09:16

lakielady that's one of the biggest things I've read is about poor management, no matter where in the country the persons from, they've all complained.
Yes I'd have to leave my job which will be hard as I love the people I work with but whilst as far as I know my job is secure, there's been a lot of restructuring and cost cutting in head office and somethings have changed which I'm not happy with.
I already work in retail so just a completely different area
