To not want to leave the pushchair outside

At my local children's centre (25 minute walk away) there is a playgroup inside and you are supposed to leave your pushchair outside at the front door of the main building. It's a long way to take dc without a pushchair and I can't drive. I'm worried about leaving my pushchair outside incase it gets stolen. AIBU and paranoid to be worried about this? Have any of you left your pram outside to attend a playgroup and had the pushchair stolen?

You need a bicycle lock for it - that's what I used to do with mine. Stops the opportunistic thief.

Could you use a bike lock and chain it to something?

WhatShouldIDo15 · 11/09/2019 16:31

The children's centre is in a park and the front door is in front of a car park

They do this at my local children's centre too, there is just not enough space inside for all the pushchairs and prams. They do however have a covered structure a bit like a bus shelter and you can borrow a chain with a lock from reception if you want to make it secure. Have you asked if they have something like this?

Put a rope lock through the wheels

GruciusMalfoy · 11/09/2019 16:32

I wouldn't leave it without securing it.

Nonmerci · 11/09/2019 16:33

I wouldn’t go there personally. A children’s centre should have room to accommodate pushchairs imo. I would not risk leaving my pram outside, what if it rains for example?

WhatShouldIDo15 · 11/09/2019 16:33

Thanks, good idea. I'm not sure there is a place to secure it with a bicycle lock. The other pushchairs left outside don't look like they are secured with anything. I'll get a bicycle lock and see if there is anyway to attach it.

The local centre near me had a pram park outside but it had a padlocked gate and you had to pick up the key from reception. Enough to stop the opportunist thief walking by although still a element of trust someone doesn't take your nice pram and leave their old one for you!

Nonmerci good point. There is no way to protect pushchair from the rain. Other than leaving rain cover on which could get stolen?
