Do you remember where you were that day 18 years ago? 9/11

I was 13 and had just started high school i was doing swimming when PE teacher got called out, when she came back in she told us to get changed and make our way home if possible and said the world was under attack by terrorists.

Obviously this was scary to hear at 13 i hadn't heard of terrorism. I remember getting home and my mum watching it on TV in utter shock. I was such a sad day and still makes me feel sad 18 years on thinking of all those innocent people losing their lives

CaveMum that was the thread I saw on Twitter about the dogs. I have two labs and when we got our first I initially didn’t cope very well with having a dog and tried to rehome her and she almost went to a group who trained SAR dogs but they wouldn’t take her as they knew her parentage from her pedigree papers and said she would be too big. Then when we were at the museum on Monday I saw the multicoloured picture of Sirius and he looks so like our Codie.

SunshineCake - it was very sad reading about the dogs. It’s something you don’t think of.

I was in an office that had the news on giant TV screens. We watched the first plane hit and thought it was a terrible accident. We watched the live news reports trying to make sense of it when suddenly behind them the second plane hit. We had colleagues who we were frantically telephoning. Luckily most were out at a meeting across town. We then got a call saying it had been a terrorist attack and our building was considered a target in London, along with Houses of Parliament. We were advised to calmly evacuate the building. As Fire Warden for my floor, it was my responsibility to get everyone out as quickly as possible. We were then told that it had been made a no fly zone and it was safe to return. We were not allowed to use the lifts though so this involved a walk up 20 odd flights of stairs whilst people grumbled. It was only when they saw the news, they realized why we'd made such a fuss.
