To get a piercing so soon after being on Roaccutane?

I don't know if anyone remembers my previous thread about starting Roaccutane, but I took my last tablet last month and had my final appointment today.

I've been thinking about getting my nostril pierced for years now and have decided I'm going to do it.

I know that Roaccutane slows down healing so you're not supposed to get tattoos or piercings while you're on it but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of them after a month of finishing the treatment?

If it's a seriously bad idea, I obviously won't do it but my worry is that I have the money now but I have numerous birthdays coming up in the next few months (including some big ones so will be spending more than I would usually), plus Christmas is rapidly approaching, then I've got more birthdays in the few months after Christmas, and then my car insurance, service and MOT are all due at the end of March so I won't really have much spare money in the coming months. Plus I have a low pain threshold and the thought makes me nervous so I'm worried if I have to wait, I'll lose my nerve!

Any opinions?

I wouldn't do it.

No don't.

I attempted to have my eyebrows waxed a few months after coming off. A tiny bit in the corner was tested and my skin just tore.

I thought my skin felt fine, but it most certainly wasn't.

I know that is different to a piercing, but my point is follow the advice because it is there for a reason. It is not worth the strong likelihood of the longer healing time and possible extra irritation to the area which may also increase the risk of infection.

If you need to ask the question you know what the answer is.

Of course not.

It is a seriously bad idea. 1. nose piercings are gross, 2. Your skin is your protection against infection, it is not designed t have holes in it.

  1. Why on earth would you want to?

Nose piercings heal so quickly you might be ok. I don't have any experience of that drug though.

Wow. I wasn't asking people's opinions on nose piercings. I wouldn't question your decisions about what you do with your own body, I really don't see why you're questioning mine. If you don't like nose piercings, that is fine and you are, of course, entitled to your own opinion but as that is not what I was asking about, I really don't see why you feel the need to say anything.

Ouch! Hope the healing didn't take too long and wasn't too painful! I wouldn't consider doing anything like waxing (not that I wax anyway as my skin didn't like it pre-Roaccutane) but piercing is a little different. I've googled and it resulted in very mixed messages, hence asking!
