To be worried about her coughing

Probably unreasonable to post on AIBU but I tend to stay in this area on MN.

How often would you say your toddlers get a cough/cold?
DD (3yo) has had a cough every month for the last 5 months. I can’t remember if she had them before this as I didn’t note them down.
She suffered with croup when younger and each cough always sounds a bit croupy (but not to the extent of needing hospital treatment anymore)
Do you think I should get her a hospital appointment to get her checked over. I have been to the GP a few times over her coughs previously when they have lasted longer than 3 weeks and her chest has always been fine. I know they don’t like to diagnose asthma at this sort of age but I’m slightly worried that the regularity of her coughs is suggesting she could have a mild case of it.

Do you think I’m being slightly dramatic?

YANBU.
My youngest DD always had what I assumed were lingering viral coughs when she was a baby/toddler. Often up all night coughing and could only sleep for short times with me holding her in upright position. Eventually went to the GP about it when she was 2 and got the blue inhaler to try. First night she woke up coughing, 1 puff of the inhaler and she then slept through the rest of the night. It was a revelation. I felt bad I hadn't taken her sooner but the coughing always seemed to follow a cold so I had no idea it was asthma.

We quickly worked out her triggers (mostly dust mites, hayfever) so she now only needs her inhaler if staying at other people's houses. I think the GPs take the attitude at that age to trial the blue inhaler and if it works then assume it is some type of asthma.

Thanks!
I’ll make her an appointment for her to see someone about it

Another one saying DC aged 3 had a persistent cough. Turned out to be asthma. Even though I didn't know it was a symptom/sign I still felt really guilty. All under control now though.

@BlackNoir was it every day or periodic? Seems odd that it wouldn’t be every day if it’s asthma but then again I suppose asthma doesn’t affect people everyday.
I really hope it’s not asthma!

My children coughed on exercise, I had no idea it was asthma until someone mentioned it. Then went to doctor who confirmed it.
