To complain about this without proof, dentist related.

I've been having dental treatment for about a month for one tooth. Failed root canal, failed extraction, so waiting for a surgical removal of the roots. I'm in a lot of pain which has peaked twice in the past week meaning I need to go in for the dentist to clean it out. I went this morning and after I had the numbing injection the dentist asked me to rinse my mouth. As I brought the plastic cup away from my mouth I noticed something on the side of it(not the side that I drank from). It was brownish red, in the semi circle shape of a mouth with dribble coming down. i.e. Blood. Straight away I said to the nurse 'er is that cup clean there's something all over the side of it?'. She immediately took the cup away and replaced it. I feel quite sick. Not sure I can complain because I have absolutely no proof that it happened. No one acknowledged it apart from to replace the cup. The treatment I've had so far has been pretty awful but this just takes the piss surely? What do I do?

That's appalling.

Can you get an appointment elsewhere?

They are doing the surgical extraction 'in house' in a couple of weeks and I'm so desperate at this point I'm worried they'll refuse to see me if I say anything. They are have always been a bit eye roll-y every time I've been in with pain. I'll be changing practices as soon as I can.

Check the surgery out on the CQC website.

If you don't understand what is said PM me. If you are worried about cleanliness eg sterilisation of instruments then talk to the CQC. A failed root canal is not unusual, I cannot judge if this tooth is also the failed extraction but you should have been warned that root filled teeth will often fracture during extraction.

In all honesty I would be looking for another surgery with an experienced oral surgeon.

Thank you very much. I knew the root canal might fail and I don't have the expertise to know whether the extraction was done badly or was just bad luck. But they've been so unhelpful since then when I've gone in with pain, not explaining what to expect and saying they can't do certain things because the equipment is broken. Blood cup just took the biscuit.
