Hi, i am a year 13 student studying a level design and i am designing a product to try to solve the problem of making sure food and drink is of the safe temperature to give to a toddler. I'm looking to find out if this is a problem many parents want to try and solve before i continue with my coursework. Any suggestions of how you go about this problem would be highly appreciated and if you could give any examples of when this is a problem. For example, is this a problem at home? or more of a problem when you are out?

I would just squirt the milk on the back of my hand or taste the food myself-sorry, that’s probably not very helpful!

We have munchkin spoons that go white if the food is too hot (bought for us), but honestly I just touch the food against my lip to test it. Also the digital contactless thermometer we have to take DSs temperature has a mode for food and liquids but we don't use it.

I taste a bit of the food or dip a finger in it to check temperature, we also had the munchkin spoons but as we did baby led weaning they weren't used all that much.

I’d normally taste food myself. The danger spot for me would be microwaved food as temperatures can vary in one dish.

I'd be more interested in a way of cooling food down quickly for them than checking the temperature.

I would always over heat food so it had gotten to a safe temp then allow time to cool.

Think there already is a product, we used to have spoons that changed colour if too hot and you can also get thermometers, but to be honest, most people just taste a bit to see if too hot.
