I've lost just over a stone but I have 5 to go.

And its shit.

That's it.

I wish I could loose over a stone!
You're amazing op well done. How did you do it? X

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 07/09/2019 18:35

I found measuring my bust, waist and hips once a month helped. Standing on the scales every week and losing 1-2lbs each time was disheartening as I had 4 stones to lose but seeing the inches measurements get smaller was a real boost sometimes. In the end I was more proud of the 35 inches (in total from all 3 measurements) than I was about the weight I'd lost. Keep at it OP it will be worth the heartache and struggle.

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 07/09/2019 18:36

35 inches lost that should read.

LabellaChicca · 07/09/2019 18:37

@Xjxuheekdohb babe that’s the exact point. You wouldn’t eat “normally” for a month. You didn’t eat”normally” in the first place! How you eat now is the new normal. Soon, you will be healthier, lighter and proud of yourself. Treats will become actual treats. You can do it ! ( but I agree, it’s shit...!!)

IAmALazyArse · 07/09/2019 18:39

It is, isn't it! I go by my clothes. I don't care how much I weight but I want to fit into a beautiful size 12 dress I still have. That's my goal.

TheMustressMhor · 07/09/2019 18:43

I am still fat, OP.

I do not think I even look any different, despite having lost over five stone.

Tryingtoocope · 07/09/2019 18:47

I bought an amazing dress in the charity shop with tags still on and in a size 12 I was an18 at the time. I started with slimming world because it was a start. I can nearly get in that dress 14 months along. Keep going, I have a goal and I will bloody get there

IAmALazyArse · 07/09/2019 18:48

Also, have you all thought about using kg for weightloss? 😁
Instead of 1 stone, 2 pounds say 7.7kg😁 It sounds better

Alwaysgrey · 07/09/2019 18:49

I have six stone to lose. It’s fucking hard and miserable. I have a bad relationship to food and an even worse relationship with my body.

gowgow · 07/09/2019 18:50

Have you tried Weight Watchers?

I lost a lot of weight by joining them, & I've kept it off. No food is banned, but it soon becomes clear that some things should only be eaten infrequently.
The leaders have all been there & understand the problems, & are very motivational.

Also, I think because you are actually paying for the service, there's extra motivation in thinking "I'm not going to waste my money".

Floopyandtired · 07/09/2019 18:55

First off, you have done incredibly well to lose weight so far. Losing weight is difficult and shit. If it was easy we’d all be Victoria’s Secret models.

Try and love yourself at your current size and celebrate your body for what it is. You are alive, (presumably) healthy, you may have children, you may give blood, and all that is thanks to your amazing body.

Try to think of exercise and healthy eating as something you do because you love your body, not because you hate it.

It sounds airy fairy but it might help you feel more positive. Good luck x

ElizaPancakes · 07/09/2019 18:56

YANBU.

I about 2 stone with Slimming World a few years ago, but like every diet I've ever done, I gradually put it all back on and then some.

I was 13 st when I got pregnant the first time and 11 when I gave birth. I'm now 16 st and so fat I look full term pregnant. Ridiculously, it's only now I've got to 5 stone over my top end healthy BMI that I've become concerned about my health.

I'm starting again this week. I have to lose some weight. I'm embarrassed with myself.

Alwaysgrey · 07/09/2019 19:01

@ElizaPancakes I weigh the same and nearly sobbed when I got on the scales.

Waveysnail · 07/09/2019 19:04

I dont weigh. I'm doing the fast 800 and loving the food. I have a size 16 top that doesnt fasten so my goal is to get into that and I try it on each week. After iv got that goal iv got a pair of trousers that dont fasten and that's my goal.

cocodash · 07/09/2019 19:12

YABU
look I get it, being overweight is shit, but with that negative mindset and attitude you will never get there.

I say this as someone who lost 5 stone once upon a time and thru a relationship, and a baby 8 weeks ago have gained the majority back.
I went back to fat club 3 weeks ago and am slowly losing each week, yes it will take time but youl get there!

Instead of negatively saying I've only lost a stone, be proud, YOU'VE LOST A STONE!!! WHOOHOOO GO YOU!!

plan meals, look forward to cooking them and eating them, try new recipes, look forward to a snack or pack of crisps that your allowed. Embrace the new, healthier, happier Skinnier you.

You got this girl :)

TitsInAbsentia · 07/09/2019 19:17

It's hard. And the older you get the harder it gets. I really wish I'd stayed on top of my weight when I was younger but well, shit happens. Anyway I continue to fight against it, and I think that's the key - as long as you are trying, just keep trying. Agree with previous posters, break it down rather than looking at the total which can seem impossible. Stick with it x

thecatsthecats · 07/09/2019 19:36

I have lost 5st, and sometimes it's a grind.

I'm enjoying my current regime though.

I have 9800 calories a week.
2400 Saturday
1800 Sunday
1600 Wednesday
Then 1000 on the remaining days.

I work with a PT on the Wednesday, and run both days on the weekend. I find that the 4x1000 makes me really focus on what I put in my food, and I have lots of veg and lean protein. It doesn't matter what I eat at the weekends, which are naturally more free days. I find it much, much easier than eating just 1400 a day.

Good luck. You're doing great.

ElizaPancakes · 08/09/2019 11:09

@cocodash you’re not wrong but it’s hard to get into that mindset.

I know for me, personally, if I try and start a diet when I’m really not feeling it, then I’ll fail at the first hurdle.

onioncrumble · 08/09/2019 11:13

I had a gastric sleeve privately. It was the best money I ever spent. I was 15st now am 9 and so healthy. For the sake of just under 3 grand, I am now alive, healthy and joyful.

Sunshinegirl82 · 08/09/2019 15:30

It is really hard. DS2 is 18 weeks and I joined WW at 11 pp. Now 1 stone down, got 3 more to go to get me into the top end of a healthy weight.

I thought I'd notice the stone being gone but I think I still look exactly the same. I'm determined though, DS1 starts school next year and I'm determined to be a healthy weight by then. It has helped me a bit to accept that this will take a long time, I won't lose 4 stone in a few weeks.

I have found WW helpful, I think it keeps me a bit more accountable. You can get there OP, just have to take it slowly and be realistic.

feelingverylazytoday · 08/09/2019 15:44

I've lost 5 stone OP.
I'm not sure why you describe it as 'shit' though. To me, it's just something I did while I was getting on with the rest of my life. I had a choice - I could either carry on getting fatting fatter, (slowly but surely), stay the same, or lose weight. I chose the last option, and it did take a long time, but it's worth it, and no there is no going back to 'normal', this is my lifestyle now, eating the amount of food that my body needs to maintain a healthy weight. Personally I choose to exercise quite a lot as well, partly so that I can eat more, but mainly because I like looking and feeling fit.
