Integrated washing machine in new build fucked.

NC'd as I've ranted like a maniac on SM regarding this.

We have an integrated washing machine. The door jammed. We called a nice man to come and fix it. He had to pull the machine out to open from the top to fix it.

Ever since it's been pulled out there are problems with the water pipe. The machine won't fill. He comes back, moves it around a bit. Gets it filling. Great. It looks bad because the only way we get can get the pipe to stop kinking is if it's not fully pushed back into place. So currently the door is completely sticking out and isn't flush with the other doors.

He blames it being a new build and the process the kitchen fitters use is to fit appliances and build around it.

So the long and short - I've got a washing machine that doesn't work. Doesn't fill with water if it's pushed back into place as the hose kinks and doesn't let water in. We did try change the positioning of the water pipe. Nothing, still the same. Anyone had any experiences/potential solutions.

I've paid 80 quid to have a door fixed but now I'm potentially gonna have to fork out 600 on another washer dryer that fits my kitchen.

I'd just take the cupboard door off. have an integrated fridge and freezer but not an integrated WM. It sticks out a little bit but doesn't really bother me.

Are you the first owners of the house? Was there no guarantees? Can you get the developer to fix it?
If it’s interested it won’t look right without a door and it seems unacceptable that the machine doesn’t fit properly. Find out who I talked the kitchen and put pressure on them as it’s not fit fit purpose, but as you’ve had someone else to repair it and this problem started after that you may have to pay to get it sorted.

ChicCroissant · 07/09/2019 16:25

Can you fix the pipe to something to keep it straight? Cable tie it to a dowel or thin piece of wood? I'm assuming it was the door of the washing machine that was fixed.

rhos · 07/09/2019 16:35

@Mamalicious16 I know it would save a load of hassle but I'm very minimal and paid a lot for it all to be integrated. It was more to see if anyone else had a similar experience and how they resolved it - y'know? x

@Pipandmum yeah, it's just 2 years old! The actual machine itself is out of warranty but I might have to put some pressure on good old Taylor Wimpy. See what they say about it. x

@ChicCroissant you've just given me an idea... I will require a saw though... 😂 x

Could you shorten the pipe so it doesn’t have to bend to fit?

NoBaggyPants · 07/09/2019 16:46

Can you access the back of the machine from either side? If so the solution is to tie string round the pipe and ease it so it's not kinked. Any decent plumber would find a solution.

rhos · 07/09/2019 16:48

@JoxerGoesToStuttgart I think it's like standard length! I can however make the hole in the cupboard bigger so it's not having to go down and up and down again and just straight across... the current set up is the pipes (both waste and water) are coming down to the supply and drain under the sink through a gap in the top corner of the cupboard. Surely if I make that bigger it will ease them off?

How would I get a saw in there though... haha! 😩

OP posts:
rhos · 07/09/2019 16:48

@NoBaggyPants no! Just from the left hand side! It's against a wall.

Easy with the saw! We've created a DIY monster here Grin

NoBaggyPants · 07/09/2019 16:54

That's a yes then. Just attach string to the pipe whilst the washer is out, and as you move it back in ease the pipe so it's not catching on anything (including itself). You can increase the size of the hole if it helps.

I'd be amazed if you get anywhere with Taylor Wimpey. Their customer service is poor even when issues are reported straightaway. Also this won't be covered under the NHBC policy.

This happened to us - but it was a dishwasher in our Kier home. In the end I had to order a new pipe from AEG. The Kier plumber had kinked the pipe and so the dishwasher would do an initial rinse but then not fill. It drove me insane! When the correct pipe arrived it was a bit shorter so that was why it had happened in the first place.

I used a bread knife to widen our washing machine pipe hole? Easier to get in a cupboard than a saw!
